After 6 years, I finally got my M....

Planned on a few cars back in 2004. Jumped back and forth between the Lotus Elise/Exige, Porsche Boxter S, Honda S2000 and the E46 M3.

Timing didn't work out for me to get the M, so I got the S2000. Great car and I still have it. I've been overseas for the past 3 years and haven't driven anything since. I entertained getting the Lotus Exige 240S but with were I'm going, it just isn't practical as a DD.

Did some soul searching and ended up getting a great deal on a 2008 M3.

Here are the pics (dealer), I'll take new ones once my mods are installed.

Here are the list of mods I've purchased for the car:
1. ARKYM CF Front lip spoiler
2. 3F CF trunk lid spoiler
3. 3F CF Diffuser
4. LUX8 Angel Eyes
5. White corner lens caps
6. Valentine 1 detector

I need help with recommendations for:
1. Springs - search tells me that Eibach is the way to go. I don't need a full coilover setup.
2. Exhaust - I like all of them but the Eisenmann Race is calling my name. From what I know the Eisenmann Sport is not that much louder than stock. I need an exhaust the talks to me when I'm rev matching/downshifting. I'm also looking at the Akrapovic slip on. Is Eisenmann good enough?
3. Intake - clueless
4. Wheels - I'm leaning towards the HRE P40's in flat black

This site is very informative and I'm looking forward to learning. I'll post up DIY threads as I start modding.

Drive safe!

Tim

p.s. Please add me to the list of 6MT drivers.....

Thanks..... that's actually what really turned me on to this specific car. I wanted the interior to look "luxury" and this does it for me.

Smile

Here's a little help, I have eibachs and like them a lot, and as far as the
intake goes I think the consensus is you're just wasting your money.

I suggest RD sport for the springs and Agency Power for the exhaust. As for intake, there is only so many out there and all very pricey and none worth the upgrade it seems like (unless you just going for the sound)

Welcome to the club!

S2000's are junk... Congrats on the M. I'm still on the hunt for my S2000's big brother.

I flipped flopped back and forth with a Lotus and the M3.... I`m still traveling too much to be able to use the Lotus... so it`s been a blessing in disguise.

Congrat.
Looks like all your mod list are from a lot of research. All are great stuff.
I recommend 2 things-
1. Suspension: Since your car is going to be DD, get an Eibach, I have 2 local M3 buddies, took H&R Sports off theirs. One went to stock and the other one went to Eibach. I have Dinan setup which I love (but hate the price tag) and Eibach simulate ride feel very closely (with 1/3 of price and slightly lower than Dinan)
2. Intake: Really no need- get MS or BMC filter, it really adds a lot of mean tone under the hood. I have Dinan. Looks awesome but honestly, aftermarket filter is all you need. No need for Dinan (looks cool) or Technocraft (Which everyone seems like getting rid of them these days).

Come to our meet (next Wed 6:30 at Lolita's) and check other M3s (and a lot of other BMWs).

And again, congrat!!!!

PS-I always wanted to have S2k which I never had chance to buy one. What year and color combo do you have? And.. after you show us your M3, bring S2k to meet as well!

I posted in the local forum that I will start coming to the meets 1st week of June. Work has me tied up until then.

Here is a picture of my S2000 a few years ago before I sold everything and put her back to stock form. I had a Comptech SC under the hood. It`s still a great car even in stock form. Can`t beat the snick, snick shifter feel on the Honda.

I`ll bring them both out 1st week of June. Look forward to meeting some new peeps!

Garage List
2009 BMW  [10.00]
Springs - Eibach

Exhaust - Gintani exhaust sport/race (depends on how much talking you want)

Wheels - Depends on budget TBH, but P40's to me are played out and aren't exactly offering better performance over stock in terms of weight reduction.

Intake - Drop-in filter

I'd also suggest getting an x-pipe + tune. Big difference in power IMO.
