I could probally buy a new GT2 M3 from BMW Motorsport for what it would cost to buy an M1 like that onewhen I 1st moved to Toronto a friend of mine was crewing on one that was raced in the IMSA series. They were incrediable cars for the time and the sound that came out of them was wild.

Sounds amazing. Not sure about what's going on with his shifts though at around 1:40...

Ah!The joys of a 70's mid engine layout and the precision of all that linkage required to shift those gears around!

Watching & Listening to those cars made me get one of the 1st E28/M5's which had the street version of that engine.Made great sounds also and quick for the time.I owned that car 3 different times and along the way it had aquired some Dinan stuff that made it work a lot better. The last I saw of it had 228000 kms and was on its way to to South America.

When the weather is nice, I drive my mother's 1974 Porsche 914 2.0 and it's like nothing being produced today. The linkage is terrible. The shifter wants to 4th instead of 2nd coming out of 1st. 2nd is really close to Reverse, so quick 1-2 shifts are out of the question. When the weather is nice and I'm not going far, I actually prefer the driving experince to the e92.
