Sorry guys...
I made it a sticky.

Making track event roll-calls stickies provides more visibility for the event within the track section. That way folks don't need to bump their invitation or roll-call threads. The intention is to connect forum members. I'll unstick it after it is over.

I am thinking about showing up at NJMP by the way. It would be good to see you again.

I'll be there, but I'm not sure which car I'm bringing. I just picked up a '91 325 iX for my daughter, and I'm toying with the idea of bringing it. I just did 3 days with the CCA at Lightning in the e46 328i, so maybe I'll switch. I just put new tires on the M3 and I want them to last. As much as I'd like to try it on this track, it'll probably stay in the garage.

This track got rave reviews from the DelVal/NJ CCA attendees. Fast and fun to drive.

See you there!

Since it's a one day event and discounted to first timers ($125 total) I'm trying to talk some guys at work into doing this event. One has a Vette C6, One has a Volvo V70R, One has a C6 Z-06, and my boss has a E46 M3. We'll see if any of them sign up.

I'm not sure if they'll let me run or not, but I might look into it. I have about 21 driver school days.

MTROIS, I thought you were trying to sell your car?

Hi skier!!

SELL MY CAR?!?!?!?!?

Where from did you get this info??? No way...absolutely not, I am loving it too much!!

Anyhow, just to let you know, this HPDE will be similar to any other with three groups: novices, intermediate and advanced. Here is an extract of an email exchange I had with the Chair of the event, Jeff White a few days ago:

"As to our October event, our original intent was to have 4 student run groups rather than the usual 3 so that the true novices have their own group. What has amazed me is the incredible response we are having from this group of people. Given the response, it is now possible that we will have 2 of the 4 groups devoted to novices and the other two groups for more experienced drivers. If we end up in this latter scenario, we will have to divide up our experienced drivers between the two available groups."

So I see absolutely no reason why you, skier, could not join us!

Hope to see you, lucid and may be others there!

Hi Midlife! How are you??!

So, are you saying that this track is well suited for the e92 M Power? I was worried that it was very short with lots of 'slow' portions. Did I confuse it with another track?

We were doing 130 at the end of the front stretch in the rain. I wouldn't call this track slow at all.

Here's some video I shot two weeks ago from the right seat of a E90 M3.

PS2s are spectacular in the wet.

Sorry about the confusion on you selling/not selling your car. Must have been another red one.

I think I might sign up.

PS to skier: my car is black, not red. Were you thinking about the one from rldzao??

I'm confused. Isn't this event at Lightning? That's not a slow track by any means. I was catching the readline in 4th on the straight and had to shift up to 5th, and getting close to 140 on the other straight, and there is only one potential 2nd gear corner, but it is debatable if going down to 2nd there actually gets you anything.

No, no, you got it right: it is indeed taking place at Lightning.... my bad!

The description you give seems a little similar to Lime Rock. Anyhow, I look forward to practicing a little bit my heel n' toe there. Let's be in touch?

Yes, I'm local...I'm an hour drive to the track. I have a guest room for anyone that lives far away and wants to save some cash on a hotel room.

And yes perhaps I had you confused with rldzao...my bad.

I've described Lightning as kind of like Lime Rock, but flatter, and on steroids. It's about four tenths of a mile longer than LRP, and has a surprising amount of elevation change for south Jersey. Nothing like the uphill and diving turn at LRP, though. Instead of Big Bend, you've got the Lightbulb turn. They both have esses, but at Lightning the esses are kind of a combination of the esses and no name at LRP. The order isn't the same, but they have the same "feel" in places. My top speed is a little higher at Lightning - it's shorter but downhill for most of the way, and you can take turn one at Lightning a little faster than big bend, I think.

If you like LRP, you should like Lightning too.

Hey Skierman, was that "Big Stig" you were riding with at the DelVal/NJ event? I didn't see you there! I must have missed you or didn't recognize you!

I am signed up for this event. I will see you all there. My first event this year in my own car.

Yes that was Big Stig's car I rode in and shot the video. I was only there for about 2 hours on Saturday of the three day weekend. I worked on Friday and Sunday I drove to VA for a evasive driving course paid for by my work. So that weekend was bad for me. Midlife, which car was yours?

Monsta, worn out tires are the best (unless it rains), less tread = more dry grip. And no, a removable hardtop is a no go with the BMWCCA. I think they say the car must have either a fixed B pillar or a race approved roll cage if it's a vert.

I was in my Orient Blue E46 328i sedan. Probably about the lowest power to weight ratio in the green group, but I had a blast and won't have to buy expensive wear parts for the M3. With two kids still in college, I'm on an E46 budget for the next few years.
