115mph, and it was honestly an accident. I had to pass some jackhole on the right, I wasn't happy about it, and gunned it perhaps a little too hard. When I looked down, I was doing 115...faster than I ever meant to go on a public road....

145 mph on the bahn during the break-in period and agree w/ others that it was at or below the break-in rpm's; still felt like car had some room to go but did not want to push it...

In theory, the M3 would be doing aprox. 193 mph in 6th gear @ 8400 rpm according to my calculations. It might be drag-limited before that point, but maybe with enough open road in front of you

On my car, the digital readout reads a little lower than the regular speedometer reading. I have noticed this when using the cruise control on the freeway. The needle on the speedometer might say 80, but the digital reading will say 78. Maybe all the cars aren't like this, but mine definitely is. I think BMW put it there to give us a more accurate reading while still having the buffered main speedometer calibration that is likely required by law. I'm sure the digital reading is still on the high side, though.

I hit 165. It pulls pretty strong even after 150. I'm guessing it'll start to slow around 175.

155ish...kept my eyes focused on the road while the fiancee told me what it was...still pulling! I need to see what it can do after the AA work but there is never enough time/room on the highway...I need to wait until I got to PA again which is in a few weeks.

Several times to the stock electronic speed limit (270km/h odo / 250km/h true speed). Anything above 230km/h and you need to be focused, but below that it is like cruising down the road. Even at higher speeds the M3 feels pretty solid.

There is a youtube video out there that shows an M3 digital readout climbing all the way to 327 km/h. Which I think is about 205 miles an hour.
Not sure how this even possible but I'll see if I can track down the video tonight and put in a link. Must be pretty heavily modded.

For those 175 + bullshiters!!
The M3 comes limited at 169mph. I experienced it three days ago on the Autobahn. The needle reached 170mph and then it cut off. Taken into consideration the speedometer error my 170 might have been a 165 or 166mph. The car feels solid at that speed.
If you don't have an ECU upgrade delimited there is no way your M3 will still pulling after 175mph. Last edited by trucheli; 06-16-2009 at 05:07 PM.. |

I reckon serious mods would be needed to see 200mph. Maybe someone on here with the supercharger can confirm if they can reach it. A Z06 with better aero, 505bhp and less weight can't reach it so we have no hope.
I don't believe an M3 or any of it's competitors will see 190mph in reality (as opposed to rev limited theory). |
