iPod Connection Kit + iPhone4 + Bumper Case

It has probably been discussed here before, but the iPod connection kit wire doesn't stay in place if you have a bumper case on your iPhone4.

Solution - a little Dremeling.

I put the sanding bit on my Dremel tool and sanded away some plastic. The result fits great and stays in place. May not be the prettiest job, but it works great

Any reason why you sanded down the connector rather than try to make the cable slot on the bumper a little bigger? I've been considering both but I'd rather f up the $30 bumper than the $80 cable.

I knew the sanding job wouldn't be the most attractive. I'd rather have the cable hidden in my center armrest sanded than the phone I carry with me and look at all the time. If you trust your skills, I'm sure sanding the bumper would work too!

I actually dremeled the bumper instead, now it works with old ipod cables, the car cable, cheap ebay cables, etc.. I figured it was less effort than dremeling any cable that doesnt fit. either way good job, im glad to see im not the only one that took a dremel to the iphone

I thought about this as well. But I decided to buy a used iPod instead. I loaded it up with my music and just leave it in the car all the time.

I was always accidently leaving my iPhone in the car when I got out. Also, having to plug and unplug it on short trips was getting annoying. This way, I leave the phone in my pocket, it syncs via bluetooth, I don't forget my phone in the car, and I have my tunes.
