TA install, battery needs unplugged?

I have done TA install 2y ago, w/o unplug battery. How do you guys do it? I am doing another TA install pretty soon.

When I was replacing the secondary air pump, a wrench or screw driver fell in the TA area and made a few sparks. Don't recall which wires it made contact with momentarily, but I would unplug the battery.

I disconnect the battery anytime I install something that would affect drivability. Gives the DME and the new part a fresh, clean start, or at least that's my interpretation of what needs to happen. Probably negligible in that respect, someone can chime in if they know for sure.
