Just wondering if anyone else is as excited about the new release of the V1 gen 2. Now we have a much better comparison between the new V1 and the R7. Below is a link to VortexRadar's comparison of the two highlighting some of the main differences and I can't wait for some more test results

Does the Gen2 V1 will plug and play with the Gen1 connector?

I feel like in northern California they all use laser so I don't know if it's worth it.

If they're using lasers then yeah don't bother with any sort of radar detector.
Get some laser jammers, if they're legal in California.

Im excited to see this video, I've been following the "drama" on the rd forum and when word got out that new V1 is coming out I immediately was excited. I still want to wait for a bit just so we have more testing done and see how it stacks up against the radenso theia.

I just use the visor mount that come came with it, but I'm thinking about buying the mirror mount. The only issue is I'm worried about compatibility with the V1gen2.

you're running the R7 now? mounting should be the same for the V1G1 and V1G2.

I picked up the V1gen2 a couple months back. I did buy the R7 and tried it out for a month and it definitely isn't as quiet as the V1gen2.

Although I never had one, I'd considered the V1 as the gold standard for many years. Enter the R7 - I watched all the reviews and did extensive research on driving, etc. In the end, I decided on the R7, wiretapped/blendmounted and have been 100% happy w/ the decision.

I think the upgradability of the V1 is nice but the hardware gets old. I can't imagine that a V1 from even 5 years ago compares well, hardware-wise to an R7 from today.

I think from a detection perspective, the V1 hardware is still pretty good, but all of the additional features (programming, false alert blocking, gps, speed cams, etc) become where the new values are at.

But again if you're looking for 99% just KA band then I don't actually know how useful some of those features are vs just turning it off entirely. I can only see those features being useful if you do a lot of interstate travel and go through jurisdictions that still use old hardware.

The stealth capabilities of the new V1 are nice. I spent many years in VA and the Bel STI was the only option back then for a stealth detector.

I'm comparing the r7 to the v1 gen 2. From what I've read the gen 2 will serve me best so I'll probably go that route
