Question daily driver?

how many of you are using your M3 as a daily driver year round?

thinking about buying a 2009 E92 M3, but am wondering if it is a realistic choice? I live in Toronto, Canada and the winters can be pretty rough!!

My E92 M3 is my daily driver. Snow tires and on another set of rims go on around the 1st of December and come off in March. Did the same with my E46 M3. Car ran fine the whole time. It goes to a car wash about once a week (no touch, no tire rails w/a very good underbody wash) during the winter.

Welcome, I see its your first post! I have an e90 and yes it is my daily driver. I would have to say that the m3 can be an awesome dd as long as you have the right tires for it. I live in Chicago and winter here can get bad. I am planning on getting a new set of wheels with winter tires and I am pretty sure it wont be a problem, plus the car isn't as low as my previous ones. Rear wheel drive with great winter tires can sometimes even perform better than a car with all season tires and four wheel drive, just depends on your money situation and if you wanna take the time swapping sets of wheels, which is not a problem for me.

I use mine as a daily driver. 110 mile round trip commute every day, followed with 15-20 miles around town afterwards. Perfect.

No snow around here though.

You can't believe the flame war I started on Audiworld when I made that same statement. One guy thought I should be banned.

On topic part of the post: My e46 is a daily driver; had it in Minnesota last winter. You must use good winter tires (I use Michelin PA2s). But I didn't drive it that much for one reason only. The car is under warranty and MUST (according to BMWNA) use the 10-60 motor oil specified by BMW. If the car sits outside for more than a couple of hours in sub-zero weather, that oil turns to vaseline, which doesn't flow too good. If BMW in Canada authorizes a lower viscosity oil, you'll have less to worry about.

I'm in an extremely high snowfall area (on lake Ontario) in New York. I intend to drive my e90 (which arrives in October) as my only car. BMWs make outstanding daily drivers. Why would you want to drive anything else?

My beater is an AWD Mazda MPV w/ Michelin Alpins. The M3 will sit quietly over the winter in the car hold.

Definitely a daily driver -- indeed, it's my only car.

M3 will be my DD when I get it but we don't get much snow here in Hawaii

Hell's freezing over here if it gets below 50 during the winter.

I guess you could call it my daily driver. I only drive it when I'm not working though. I drive a pickup all day for work, and let me tell you, I can't wait to get in my ///M when the work day is over and I have somewhere else to go. I don't drive it in really bad weather though. Main reason is it gets so dirty when the roads are wet and I don't like to have to wash it. I will never drive it in the snow.

The M3 is my daily driver for most days of the warmer months and a few of the winter months when there's no snow, ice, or too much salt laid down on the roads. I live in Chicago and don't plan on getting a set of winter tires for the M3 so I will be very cautious even when the roads are dry during the colder months. If the weather and conditions don't cooperate, I drive the suv.

I have to agree with you!

Right now my Z4M Coupe sits in the Garage in the winter. That is dumb (I just called myself dumb .)

I am going to get an M3 next year and will use it in snow and all!

Enfield I originally bought my m3 to drive all year around. But now I have changed my mind and I going to get something else for the winter. I like the car too much to drive it in the snow and salt. And I dont know where your buying your M3 but mine cost a 100 k after tax.

Daily driver.

My 04 330i gets studded Pirelli Winter Carvings in early November which stay on til April Fools' but I haven't decided if I want to go that route with the M3. You would think that studs on a BMW would make for a ragged driving experience, but they don't on the 330, and no snow or slop slows that car down at all, even up into Canada.

I am going to lease an M3 for 3 years. It makes sense from a tax point of view. Therefore, I do not care about exposure to salt or snow. I have driven a 330 (E46) in the winter when I did BMW's winter driving course. I am sure that the M3 will be just fine in the white stuff.

Right now I use my 2004 Infiniti FX45 in the winter (it is stored in the summer .) I take care of it and it does not have any rust anywhere. Wash it 2x week in the winter and it gets the spa treatment in the spring with engine shampoo etc.
