You are right, not an efficient way to burn fuel. One has to feed and keep feeding those high strung horses. The GT3 does reasonably well, given it's performance and redline: 15/22. And Porsche is on the cusp of offering DFI. Ferrari says their new motors will offer DFI.

Anyone one who has followed the development of the E92 M3 from it's inception will vouch, especially after BMW's proclamation of an 8% increase in fuel efficiency over the E46, that we were all led to believe the E92 M3 would get a minimum mpg rating of 15/22 with 6mt. Then with the way BMW marketed the efficiency of DCT, one would think a DCT equipped car would get at least another mile or two per gallon, wouldn't you?

The next question is, how far away is BMW from offering DFI in the 4 litre? With the price of oil, the economy, and the competition heating up, BMW had better return from holiday fairly quickly.

Doesn't the M3 make the Mercedes C63 look like a hybrid though? This is what I have heard. In another test of the M3 vs. the ISF, the M3 was said to get the same fuel economy out of 300 miles as the ISF. (CAR AND DRIVER Test). And the ISF is rated at 16/23.

Remember, you're giving the money to BMW -- they have already paid the government the tax and they are passing the negative savings on to you!

That is ironic. Both are complete and utter gas pigs. A big block 427 will get 10mpg in the city. What a joke. Efficiency? Puuuuhlease. So much for a leap forward in technology. It is the SAME ENGINE AS THE M5 WITHOUT 2 CYLINDERS. Why is everyone so surprised about the mpg on this thing?
