Why people like unorthodox plate mount?

Why not just leave the license plate where it suppose to be? Tow hook mount is both more ugly and less aerodynamic i think.

I agree. I have a tow mount just for fix-it tickets. Other than that, I leave it off.

If I were to keep it on forever then I would just accept the holes.

I would rather pay a ticket though.

Because it's "different". Some people don't care if it looks good or not. It's all about being different to them.

Hey OP.

The point is aesthetics. I don't know if the vagueness of the responses to your thread is what has confused you up until this point, but a lot of people simply choose to drive their cars without front plates (myself included) regardless of whether or not it is a law.

However, if it is a law and people wish to avoid tickets WITHOUT drilling holes in their front bumpers (since many times cars come from the dealership/factory without the holes drilled), then a tow hook mount is a great alternative for doing so. Plate can be removed for shows, pictures, etc.

Hope this helps.

Why drive without plate? It is part of a car. Why not leave out rear plate as well?

I suppose I did write a bit much in that response, especially considering his subsequent reply.

not everywhere requires a front plate, so those that move often may not want to have a blank plate sitting there.

I don't have an orthodox mount. Mine is born-again, Hasidic.

He told you in the first sentence of his post:

I will entertain you with more detail - I like the lines that the designer created. Like many others here, I'm an overly excited auto enthusiast on a car forum. I want to keep it clean looking and how the car was intended to look. I will pay a ticket before breaking the design and loveliness of the curves.

Removing the rear plate is more than just a fix-it ticket.

I have never ran a front plate on any of my cars and have never been hassled about it here in Texas where you are supposed to have it.
