Weight balance E92 M3

Did a search but can't find the weight balance of the E92 M3 front to back. Does anybody know approximately what this is out of curiosity? I know it may vary a little depending on options but I'm just looking for the general stock distribution.

I thought it was very close to 50/50.

You'll see different figures quoted, but most commonly the E92 is roughly 51/49.

Sadly, it's very easy to remove weight from the rear of the car (exhaust, battery, rear-seat delete, etc.), but not so easy to remove weight from the front.

Totally agree. I believe this when aero really makes a different. Especially after reading an F1 article recently regarding mechanical vs aerodynamic grip. What an eye opener. No wonder GS class M3 are turning lap times with very little aero.

A friend added a wing and said he absolutely did not need a splitter for aero balance on his dedicated track car. The wing gave him back the balance he needed. He believes that 51/49 does not really pan out properly on the track. Have the same issue with mine. Cannot get the rear low enough. Will need to raise front in corner balance.

+1

At the end of the day, getting it corner balanced will be very helpful, especially since managing weight transfer during driving will still be key. I notice the weight difference dynamic more with street tires than R-comps with my splitter off.

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems remarkably balanced for a front engine car. Just a little piggish I guess.

I believe this. Just wish we could add aero to the rear without having to drop a big wing on the car. Works for a mostly track car, but not for a daily, IMO.

I think your best bang bor the buck weight loss without killing daily drivability would be seat and exhaust, plus better driving position/balace without too much compromise and call it a day

Corner balancing properly will indeed result in a raised front... after the initial proper corner balance, I ultimately had my rear raised and front lowered slightly, really mainly for looks (in addition to bottoming out on large bumps in the rear), but to get the right balance, the front will have a significantly larger gap vs the wheel/tire and the back tire will be in the wheel well.

My car is corner balanced. 55% front weight, 45% rear weight. That is with 1/2 tank fuel and my wife in the driver seat. I have the rear as low as I can realistically set it with my track suspension, and I still think I have too much rake for the track. So to corner balance I only had to raise one front wheel. Car definitely needs rear aero.
