The rears however were not significantly lighter on my scales, though the vane count is higher. Hard to say it's worth 20% more money over the stock ones in the rear but sometimes people just want an upgrade no matter how small and these get the job done and fitment and function are just fine so far.
got a link to the weights of front and rear ECS rotors?

Long term update this is by far the most reliable mod I have done to my car. Complete bang for the buck the car is now ESS Supercharged and this guy have kept me out of trouble in quit a few miscalculations. Really happy.

Bringing back this old thread

Is there any more feedback on how these perform on the track vs stock rotors? Also, any comparison to the PFC DD rotors in cooling and longevity for the track?

Thanks,

I've used mine now at COTA and Laguna Seca. Both not exactly easy on brakes. I have no complaints. They look good with some very minor micro cracking (nothing to worry about).

I had RE11's on for the three (very hot) days at COTA and NT01s on for the cool days at Laguna (only ran 4 session due to the damn car limit at Laguna...) All sessions were a minimum of 30 minutes all the way up to 40 on Saturday at COTA.

In all honesty, I like the dimpled surface of the PFC DD rotors (on my E46M3) over the drilled and slotted rotors from ECS. Slightly less pad wear (however, the PFC rotors are noisier!). However, the ECS rotors are a fine piece of kit and look great (I like the black rotor hat). I have no complaints.

i'd rock those for $250 more if i was going to stick with oem brakes. they look nice. weight savings published by ecs is 0.4lbs per rotor, but less is still less.

Have you gone through a set yet? I have the Stoptech Aero Rotor OEM replacements and I'm at 28.5mm / 29.6mm for the fronts after only 6 track days. Seems like excessive wear (and odd that there's a big difference between right and left). I do use MDM and I've heard conflicting info that MDM actually uses the front brakes at times so maybe that is causing the extra wear on the front left.

I'm using PFC08 (track only, Z-rated for street) and RE11 tires.

Wear it going to vary greatly depending on your car's setup (tires, suspension, power), ambient temps, pad compound & thickness, tracks you drive, your driving style, etc.

What thickness are the StopTech OEM replacements when new? 1mm difference in wear is definitely possible if you drive tracks with more right or left turns (or if the tracks run clockwise vs counterclockwise). MDM will definitely brake individual wheels to help tuck the car into the corner more. I was just at the track yesterday and could definitely feel it and even hear it.

30mm new. Same as OEM. I figured that since most of your braking hard braking is in a straight line, the wear should be somewhat even. 1mm doesn't seem like much but when you start at 30mm, the left front has worn 3 times as much as the right front (1.5mm vs .5mm).

What's the pad thickness like on each side?

I replaced the pads on my StopTech kit last night, and I can tell you that the inside pads were worn further (they have less airflow and therefore run hotter) and that one side of the car was slightly more worn than the other.

Again, who knows what MDM is doing. Just because you are braking hard in a straight line doesn't mean that the braking pressure is identical on each wheel. The computer might sense a slight difference in traction and brake one wheel more/less than the other.

Pads are fairly even (within about 1mm). Certainly not 3x the pad wear on one side vs. the other. I agree that the wear won't be even. I could understand if it was 30% more or so, but 3x seems a bit excessive.

I have not gone through a set yet. They seem to be wearing really well. I didn't measure after Laguna as I changed back to street pads/tires at the track.

The PFC's lose about 0.001" per day at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch w/PFC 08's and RE-11's.

Are there any long term reviews or feedback on road upgrade over OEM?

Used the cars for 3 years 20k miles with no issues. I sold the car I while back but I think it's still on this rotors. No regrets

This rotors and a set of good pads is all you need. This car was running a Ess 650 SC kit and stoping power was good enough.
