Hey,

Thanks for all the feedback to my questions, i wasn't ignoring you just very busy with work an all.
Spoke to the dealer the other day my car looks to be heading here in late Aug / Sept. Now after seeing a few M3's at dealers i haven't a clue on what combo to go for now..lol.

Hi Androo - just go for what you want. Everyone has a different idea of what looks good and they're all right!

So I collected yesterday...mmmm - pity I'm in Melbourne today and I had to park it at the airport this am!

No phone... apparently they've stopped doing that now....

If anyone gets a phone on a "current" delivery can they let me know? Dealer was v adament they don't do that anymore (apparently used to do it on the X5 as well).

I was at my dealer last week dropping a mate off to collect his new 335i vert & the sales guy said BMW AUST have stopped the "free" phone thing.

I never used the one I got with my X5 anyway..

Not great. Around town, I'm getting about 15.5 l/100km ... I could do better, but sometimes I just want to hear the engine.

I did a trip down to Melbourne and back a few weeks ago and only managed 11.2 l/100km. I went via the Princess Highway rather than the Hume, so the road was not straight and flat and I went through a lot of towns. Still 25mpg isn't very impressive and is some way from the 9.2 l/100km claimed for "highway cycle".

My X5 diesel is sitting on 11L/100km average & I don't have a heavy foot. If my DCT M3 delivers 15L/100 around town I'll be happy I reckon

^ the thing that disappoints me about the M3's fuel economy in city driving isn't so much the actual economy figure (which is similar to my previous V6 Alfa Romeo), but that the fuel warning light usually starts screaming at the 1/4 fuel remaining reading. It's a minor niggle though and I wouldn't call a Royal Commission over it.

Sadly the new X3 only showed an 11.2-11.5 average for it's first tank full. Quite some way from the claimed 7.2 average!! I guess it'll get better as it gets run in - it'll need to!

Interesting.. When my X5 was new is returned better fuel economy (9.6L/100km). After being re programmed twice & having done 23,000kms it's got worse. Go figure..

LOL! Best you keep her away from my wife then - you'll have no hope then!

Did you see the article in the Herald Sun today on the E90 M3? Sounds like the price will be good and we'll be getting the 09 model. Excellent!

LOL , yes she likes the idea of a new X3

Just had an email from my dealer and my car has been pushed back to August production. I've read numerous posts on here that they close down for the month in Aug, is this correct?
Don't they start production on 09 models in Sept??

Confused..............

Yeah, that's what I thought too and it made sense as a lot of Europe closes for summer holidays in August. Sorry, don't know any more than that.

From what I've heard from the Perth dealership is that they have replaced the phones with a free upgrade to the newer version of the navigation software. Hope someone who picked up cars in '08 can confirm this.

I am averaging 14.6l/100km around town but it's way too high compared with the 12.4 I average in the E46 M3.

By the way, does enyone experience a ticking noice in when the engine is running and whilst stationary ... ala M5 ... more like the diesal? Is this normal. Someone said it's the injectors!

Aussie,

I was reading the attached two threads last night – is this the noise you are referring to ?

Unfortunately I cant comment as I don’t have the vehicle yet BUT it was offloaded off the Toronto in Brisbane on Saturday past and is going through customs this week so I might get it this week or early next week.

After more than a year its been a long wait but by the looks of the forum comments its been worth it.

Will post some shots when its arrived and clean !

Just got the first edition of Topgear Australia Mag with a comparison between M3, C63, F6 Typhoon, GTS and WRX STi. Good reading with the M3 seeming to come out on top on balance. I'd scan it and post but its about 10+ pages. Enjoy !

Just spoke to my dealer & he assures me that I'll be driving my DCT away on the last week of August

Looking forward to seeing the pics of your car!!
