yea no shit. Luckily I've always had smooth transactions on ebay and craigslist but this was nicely played. IMO she was obligated to buy them. Lesson learned. Don't bid on shit you can't afford biatch.

You know, I really wanted to give you a for this one, but I realized the "scam" could work the other way as well. For example, what if the buyer had buyer's remorse (rather than a legitimate reason as you claimed you had) and then fabricated a reason to return the product and demand a full refund? Another way to state it, what if you were the seller and a buyer backed out of a deal claiming a defect that you should have known about, even though you gave the buyer an opportunity to test the product beforehand?

Not sayin you were wrong, but we obviously have to trust you when you say that you found "several defects which [you were] unable to test for at his place (convenient for him)".

I see your point but he paid 700 for one unit, so the seller actually had 300 collateral on the 2nd unit which was still in seller's possession.

Hmm, I didn't read it that way. I read it as:
1) original purchase price = $800 for both units
2) buyer negotiates down to $700 for both units
3) buyer paid $350 to walk out with first unit, with intent to pay remaining $350 when pick up the second unit.

Valid point guys, I left $400 for one unit. Should have mentioned that lol

The "stuff" was a set of Deftech speakers with built in powered subs. He had a receiver to power them but it didn't have LFE outputs. So when I got home and wired the internal sub to run off of LFE, it didn't work. My receiver was brand new, with the LFE outputs tested and working properly.
So, guy = D-bag

What got to me is that he claimed everything was in perfect working order and was no idiot to home audio. So he knew they didn't work. And then denied when the product wasn't in the condition stated on CL

smart one. The only problem is that she knows your real ebay account name. So in case she wants to do something about it she can give you a negative feedback. I would have took the money and ended it, that way no trace.

thats some win right there. i dont think "payback" should have used the "car dealership" excuse though and just come up with something else.... i wouldn't want to make it obvious i'm the same person. too much extra, unnecessary, drama to add to the situation

Very funny if that's true. Why would she threaten to call the FBI if you live in Canada and in the same town as her? Shouldn't she be calling the RCMP?

I have been fortunate with all my transactions on Ebay and CL. I have to remember these if something like this happens. I hate people who are dishonest and thing the can screw with people.

To the person with the Ebay add, I would file a claim with ebay saying the person never completed the transaction and they want the listing fee back. Since the bitch can not claim they transaction ever happen since it was done outside ebay itself.

Even once in a while in CL when I selling a high $ item I get the scammer wanting to send the cashier check who over pay and them want me to send them cash back for the difference, I usually mess with them a bit and keep the worthless check, when they happens I usually get the death threat emails and I will have the FBI on my door step the next day. Today I have a collection of worthless checks.
