During my last two track days, I've had a really hard time heel-toeing/rev-matching into 2nd gear from 3rd. It doesn't grind but it just locks me out of 2nd as if the gate is closed. This only happens when I'm driving on the track or fast on the streets. I have no problems going into 2nd while just cruising around.

Any known solutions for this problem?

Thanks!
sounds like either a second gear synchro issue or failing shift linkage.

easy on the shifts!!

you will know if its a synchro if you double clutch the downshift and it goes into gear no problem (clutch in, shift into neutral, clutch out, then clutch in again for moving shifter into second)

if the problem persists, its probably a shift linkage.

I didn't know if you realize this is a 6yr. old thread...either way there was some advice that kitw gave regarding the motor mounts. Check yours out, at 99k miles bet yours are shot.

Not to mention a bad synchro will throw the car out of gear.

Dave
but a worn synchro can grind or sort of click into gear louder then the others, right?

Bumping this old thread, last couple of track days my car doesn't want to downshift into second gear all the time at higher RPM's either going straight or entering the corner. It locks me out. I can live with it if it's driver error and I'm missing the gate, I'll try and finesse it and work on my Shifts. Has anyone else experienced this or have any fresh thoughts on it? Trans mounts are original, fluid is redline.
