Which xenon control module (ballast) do I need?
Hey guys I'm going to be tearing off my bumper this weekend and replacing what I assume is a bad xenon control module from moisture in the headlight and resealing it. I'm aware that the M3's did not get the LCI headlight upgrade but I'm seeing two types of ballasts that both say they fit my 2012 M3 with adaptive headlights.
This is what I already ordered - https://www.ebay.com/itm/262368841626 After looking around I noticed there's also this one with an additional 01 at the end of the number that also supposedly fits my model - https://www.headlightexperts.com/hea...xoCfbUQAvD_BwE This video at 6:33 says you need the one with the 01 at the end or it won't power the lights. - Some of the guys on the e9x m3 Facebook page are saying I need the one I already purchased without the 01. Does anyone have any knowledge of this? |

There are a lot of non OEM ballasts on eBay, check the dates and you’ll notice the same dates on several and most are missing the AL mark (although there are fakes with this but generally have the same date). Cadillacs use the same ballast so you may find some for cheap. All m3 use the same ballasts for 2008-2013. The control module is separate that controls the adaptive and other lighting functions.
