Ignition Coils - Bosch / Bremi / Delphi

Starting to experience a slight misfire under acceleration at low RPM while in a high gear and I'm willing to bet an ignition coil is going (spark plugs are new).

After checking ECS, Turner etc, everything that isn't a BMW branded ignition coill is out of stock, and I'd like to replace all 8 of them but don't want to be greeted with a $2k+ bill! Any idea where the elusive OEM non BMW stock for these are?

Thanks in advance.

Try ngk.com part number 48729. They are stamped BMW. Looks like they are in stock there $93.

You don't need to replace all 8. Just check which one is causing problems (usually #7) and replace that.

Nice one, I managed to buy 5 of them which was all they had in stock.

Thank you, hopefully they arrive before Sunday so I can fit them before Sonoma Raceway.

Thanks Redd, I agree but since the car has done 142k and it's been in my possession since 136k I'm just going around and refreshing everything. So far I've done the following:

-bearing shells
-clutch
-brakes pads (RSL29), rotors and shoes.
-steering wheel and shifter
-spark plugs
-throttle actuators
-diff oil
-driveshaft
-alternator
-radiator
-tyres for MPSS

Replacing all suspension and arms is next....

Removing the airbox and ancillaries doesn't take too long, but the fewer times I have to do it the better.

Nice! Glad you could grab some. I was shocked they had any in stock.

I had a single misfire when I did a track day at Thunderhill back in July and it got less and less each session and eventually went away. My question is the testing method, is that Ohming them out? To what spec? I've done it with my Z32 coils and testing those.

I had one of my coils go bad last summer and ordered 3 Bremi branded ones. None of them worked on my M3 and ended up returning them. I did move them around to other cylinders and the misfire followed.

I ended up just biting the bullet and spending the $$$ and bought the 8 BMW branded ones and replaced them all but this was before the shortage of coil packs in the market. I kept the 7 good ones as backups just in case

The NGKs are stamped BMW, can’t get more OE than that.
