ED & their relationship w US dealerships.
I was just curious; if I wanted a limited edition BMW could one avoid proxy and go direct to BMW Munich to order the car?

Maybe you could, but:
a) you'd pay way more and BMWUSA would not honor your warranty (which is only 2 years in the EU, BTW). b) you get an EU-spec car, i.e. no US satellite radio. c) you will have to export/transport/import/re-spec the car yourself. I live in Germany and once thought of buying ED and not exporting the car, because back then, it was 40% cheaper. That has changed a bit but even back then was not worth the hassle for me. I assume it is even less the other way around.
