Questions on the Nitto NT05
It's about time to replace my Michelin PSS rears. They've lasted one year and maybe a little more than 10,000 miles. I'm actually going to look into the warranty but that's another thread.
I was considering the Nitto NT05 tires to try something new. What's the tread wear like? Did you get a season out of them? Do they run big or small relative to other tires? Also, what size suggestion for the stock ZCP 19" wheels? I've been running the PSS in 275/30 in the rear and have been pretty happy. Thanks.

They wear really well for me as a track tire. I wouldn't run them on the street mainly because they supposedly suck in the wet. Otherwise, the ride and noise are pretty good but I have them in 18" size. They also tend to like a lower pressure on track, in the low 30's.

Thanks for the feedback on the tire wear.
Interestingly enough, most of the wet feedback that I read was that they were better than expected.

I've owned NT05's and they aren't "bad" in the wet but they are FAR from good. I personally wouldn't run them in standing amounts of rain. I live in Seattle so we get a lot of rain and under normal conditions they are fine. With heavier or constant rainfall and temps below 40F or so they lose traction at an alarming rate.
With that said putting some heat into them makes all the difference. Once that is done there really aren't too many tires I've driven or tracked on that are DOT legal that perform better for the design and especially price. Note: one thing I've noticed is these tires are more sensitive to alignment compared to say AD08's or RS3's. These are basically a harder compound NT01 with higher tread depth. |

Currently using 275/295 on 18" wheels and they fit no problem (E90). Like it was mentioned, make sure you have your alignment dialed in. They need camber or you'll lose the outside edge fairly quickly.
I've run them both on the road and track. 0 issues on the road, and decent on track. I'm going to give the Rivals a spin next as they have some more meat on the shoulder than the NT05. |

OP, sounds like you ran the PSS on the street and track. If so, there's your issue with their low mileage. The PSS are far from an ideal track tire. For what it's worth, I plan to run PSS on the street and NT05 at the track.

i just finished with a set of nt05 on my e36. this was purely for daily driving and they lasted me 8 months and they went through about 9k miles. the rears were bald lol as others have said the wet traction actually wasn't that bad, but it isn't that great either. i think it's hard to beat the pss
