HIFI Speaker upgrade

Just bought a 2010 M3. Looking to upgrade sound system as the regular HIFI is just not cutting it. I came from a 335 with the logic 7 system that sounded amazing.
From what I've seen here the best option is to upgrade the amp and subs. Where are the subs located? I breifly looked under the seats and didnt see anything (thats where they were in my 335) and any recommendations on amp and subs? Ive seen a lot of people going with the JL audio xd 600/6 amp, what about subs? If I even have them...?

Thanks

8" subs are under the front seats, Same as your 335. Some go with Earthquake 8s some go with Jehnert 8s. Yes a new amp and upgraded subs should do the trick, Stock HiFi tweeters leave a little to be desired. If you want it to sound amazing then replace all the speakers and subs + add some power.

I have a pair of BNIB Earthquake SWS8X for sale on here if your interested

Get Technic's wiring harness first. Then you can use the amp of your choice and go from there. A lot of people go with the JL XD600/6.

What aspects of the audio system are you trying to improve? Lots of available options but the one you take depends on budget and what you feel the biggest issues are.

Generally we think the HiFi cars have two main issues:

1. Lack of bass response (fixed with upgraded subs, although we will tell you NOT to use the Earthquake, they sound terrible)

2. Overall poor clarity and detail, sort of muddled / harsh mids. Our Stage 1 is a great solution but lots of other choices too, depending on some other factors.

What are your NEEDS? That's the starting point for all recommendations.
