Hey guys, I'm researching on ownership for an M3. One thing I've noticed is that they don't come with block heaters. I don't have access to a heated garage so it'll be outside during those -30 day stretches. Anyone have issues with the car starting in these temps? Is the stock battery up for it?

Most people in your case just get a oil pan warmer like below. BMW Edmonton puts them on all the time. http://www.wolverineheater.com/Engin...ars-s/1814.htm If you are looking for a used M3 talk to EEC Motors and get one imported from the US. 2 of my neighbours did it with great savings and TBH I'd do it too. I'd change the cluster though. Last edited by sparkyg; 02-19-2013 at 07:45 PM.. |

is this a good deal for 2012 e92?
Hi guys I am looking to buy my first m3 as I have been looking into it for the past year. I came upon a 2012 m3 original msrp being 87 k fully loaded (mdrive, executive, competition, bmw apps, dct, novillo leather) so in canada with tax and all the fees it is around 93 k brand new. The m3 was driven by a bmw exec for half a year (they give these cars for the execs to drive fora period of time assuming for no fee), and of course now it is back on the lot. There are 3900 kms, warranty is still good until may 2016 80 000 kms, I have yet to go test drive the car and take a look myself but I am actually not in the city until the end of the month. The final msrp including taxes, fees are 79 k. The carfax report has no problems whatsoever, so assuming upon inspection and test drive that there are no problems, do you all think this is a good deal? I put a refundable deposit to reserve it until I test drive it. the pics i have received look great-no problems whatsoever. Thanks guys! |

I'd look to the US for that car. You can probably save yourself at least 10k importing it. Saved 10-15k importing mine. 80k for this car used (albeit lightly) is nuts.

The deals in the US are too good to pass up. You gotta do some work but you will save $10-15k easily and still get a great car. This is a perfect time to get some low mileage cars since they will be all over the market. Go to the Detroit or Chicago area. Lots of cars being turned in and they were garaged in the winters there most likely. It just isnt worth spending huge money on an M3 now. They car is older, dated in all electronics and the new M3 is around the corner. I wouldnt drop anymore than $50-55k right now. |

Another thing to think about is the fact that the Tires and Brakes are most likely brand new on this M....... tracking an M car don't hurt it. Besides, there is always an instructor in the car so it is not like people get to take them out and beat on them unsupervised. |

I would say it depends how long you intend to own it. From what I have seen the driver training cars are not that great a deal.
I'd still get a US car but its your $$$. You still have a warranty so there are no issues there. |

I wouldnt pay more than $67k. They are out of their mind. Fck 'em.
BMW Canada are a bunch of f*cktards when it comes to selling their cars. They ask way too much. Find a US car same mileage and offer them the same cash. here http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...ry_search.aspx 2 2012 cars used low miles $67k and change. It gets even better, you can get a car in the low $60's used....at a friggin' stealership. |

I had my OOP done at a Chevrolet dealership in Leduc. It was basically a new car, so they didn't have much to do. Cost somewhere around $150 if I remember correctly.
I'd go with a non-bmw dealership if I was to do it again. |

Hey guys i joined this forum when i purchased my 07 335xi a few years ago. First time on here since then.
I am from Edmonton and just wanted some advice on my next bmw purchase from local Albertan's! So i no longer have my 335xi as i sold it. Before that i had a 01 m3. Clearly i miss these cars like crazy and im trying to decide what to buy now. My budjet is ball park 40k and looking to purchase within next year. Requirements are a manal trans, 4 door and a color i can live with. Right now i drive a 99 volvo which can either be a winter beater or i could sell it if i get a car i can drive in Alberta winters. My dream has always been e9x M3. So its either go for one now or slowly work my way up to one. I dont want force myself into a high km M3 just because thats all i can afford and suffer through expensive maintance or potential problems. So the options i have been thinking about. 1. Keep volvo for winter and get 08-09 m3 used for around 40-50k 2. Get into a 2011 335i. There is a few for sale in 35-40k range that i really like It seems like i could drive the 335i in the winter from what i hear? 3. Get a 2011 335xi and sell volvo. 4. I took a test drive in a 335d which was actually a very nice ride, and the amazing fuel economy with the high power and handling impressed me enough to consider forgoing the manual if i went that route. Any feedback you could provide on your experiences with any of these cars would be very helpful! Thanks |

The M3 S65 is like no other engine you will drive in your life. Thats right, your LIFE! Everything from here on in will be fart-charged and will in no way resemble what M cars were born to be. Every time I drive the M3 hard I just revel in the glory! Seriously the car is that good and the engine that good. Suspension kills the 335 too. Old or new. Lots of 335 owners will fight that one but I see no M-diff in any 335's. Can you live with 16 l/100 km in the summer? Thats the price for play.... |
