New X6 and M3 price?
So I just came back from SC, I did the two day performance driving class and it was great!! a lot of fun!! anyways, while we were driving we saw the new X6 being tested, with a cover zebra looking like, it looks like a Pontiac Aztec from the back, that is awful, but my instructor said it has a 500 HP engine, so that's a plus... ohhh and by the way He mentioned to have seen a paper with a price for the new M3, $62K to start... he refused to show it though..ohh well... I'll post some pics as soon as i recover from the trip...

Damn 62k. That's a nice chunk of change. Probably will get close to high 60's low 70's after tax and a few options. Gotta pay to play.

What do you work for BMW? The M3 shouldn't be more than $55k base, imho...but it will be more like $60k-$62k base. When you add a few packages and options to a base $55k car, you're looking at $65k-$70k+.

500 HP, amazing ain't it? I saw when they were testing the two second stand off feature on a hill, and we were reving our engines on M5's and could hear the engine from pretty far roaring on that X6, the looks once again seemed a little weird..

The whole lot of that sounds fishy.
Better come solidly loaded at $62k, ie Nav and some other goodies.

$62k. Just as I thought. I doubt that it will be loaded. That means a decently optioned car will be in the low 70s out the door with tax. Too much I'd say. I don't see how they can sell 50000 cars in the US at that price.

This price will certainly cut into their volume but if it outperforms the current 911S, AM Vantage and RS4 I'd say it is worth $62k base. |

And, I also wonder what 10000/year @ $62k base price would do to the residuals, which have been excellent in the previous models. Expensive cars really take a hit in the first 2-3 years, especially if they are produced in relatively high volume. |

What was the instructors name? When I took the two day M School in July
the only info the instructors told us about the M3 was that 16 were on order for the school and that they expected the M3 to be quickest on the tight track they have at the M performance center. |

An instructor at the BMW driving school in SC is about as a good of a source as I am here on this forum. Seeing as how a driving instructor has about zip to do with sales or distribution. He says he saw a piece of paper with 62K on it. Could have been anything..... I am sticking to 57K base for my prediction. I will be doing a ritualistic animal sacrifice tonight for the MSRP gods....

I don't think so. I don't see why BMWUSA would selectively disclose pricing information to different parties as that would only lead to confusion and misinformation in the marketplace. One would think all external parties would get to officially hear about it at the same time.
