Cheapest way to ship from USA to Canada..

So I just picked up a lip off a forum member and he went to post it today via UPS and they quoted him $350! That's 1/2 the price of the lip.

Now to be honest I've always seen a divide in people from USA and Canada on here with regards to shipping items, I myself have never cared and will always send something over if I have to. But for you guys that don't mind shipping to Canada, what methods do you use? What's the cheapest but safest way?

Note; I know picking up at the border would be the best but I'm not driving all that way for a lip especially when if you don't wanna take the M you still have to take a 4.4i X5 (really horrible on petrol).

Thanks guys and gals!

USPS costs less than UPS, but you may want to look into having Greyhound ship it. I heard somewhere they ship items -

Do not got with UPS they are the most expensive, their handling fees are ridiculous to cross the border. As Moxie said USPS, or Purolator. Hadn't thought about Greyhound but definately worth checking.

USPS would be way cheaper. UPS sucks, they charge a lot for custom fees as well.

USPS may be cheaper but their service is terrible. Gotta weigh the costs and the services rendered.

I ONLY ship with USPS. Their service may be horrible in the US, but once it hits the border, it'll be delivered with Canada post whose service is actually pretty good.

If a company won't ship with USPS, i'll buy from someone else.
I recently made a $900 purchase and paid $100 to ship the package with USPS. When USPS dropped it off at my door, I paid $0 for taxes/duty..etc.

that would be an EASY $150-200 in fees alone if it was UPS.

Gotta agree with you on that one. My seller ended up going with FedEx.

It is the US part that scares me, especially with the item I bought it is easy to destroy it. Completely understand about the fees and if memory serves me correctly then FedEx won't charge me anything either.

UPS shipped the OEM rims I purchased from FL, and collected almost $300 from me at the door. I was not impressed!

FedEX is much better.

I hate UPS.

Got ripped off before using them. Crazy

Went with FedEx in this case, USPS would not ship it due to its size (Challenge Lip in a box with a fair amount of bubble wrap/peanuts and 77 inches long). UPS wanted $350.
