FYI for all. I had a discussion with the finance/warranty guy at BMW Silver Spring (Tischer), my dealership, and I was told no extended, factory (BMW) warranties for M cars any longer. Also getting the CPO warranty can be done, but it was highly discouraged due to the issues of the dealer buying back then selling back - I thought the CPO warranty could just be applied with the correct inspection and according fees. The aftermarket, extended warranties they carry are fairly compelling... not too expensive for the platinum coverages. (I had a Mile-one Platinum warranty on my Audi S4, but never had to use it... so don't know how good they are with coverage)

I bought a BMW extended maintenance and warranty plan last year. As far as I know, and talking to others, BMW is still offering extended warranty plans. They are still advertising it on their website as well: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...rotection.aspx OP, if you want a good deal, read this thread (this is for a m5 though) http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...good-true.html PM me for dealer and warranty sales guy. Basically BMW has three levels of coverage, power train, gold, and platinum. Platinum, the highest level, is an exclusionary warranty. That is, it lists what is not included. Power train is the equivalent to CPO. The rates/term length and offerings differ depending if your car is in the original warranty period or not. If it is, then all three levels are available. If not, then only power train is available. See post # 44 in this thread for brochure, length, and pricing charts. http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...arranty-5.html The other alternative is to go with a 3rd party warranty. Having a BMW warranty forces you to go to a dealer. The advantage of a 3rd party is you can take it to a dealer or Indy shop granted that they accept the warranty company.

As noted, this is what the finance guy at Silver Spring BMW told me... he specifically said, BMW is no longer offering 'factory' extended warranties for M cars.

Just doesn't make sense for BMW to stop doing extended warranties for their products. It is another profitable venue for them, and for dealerships, no?.

I would agree, but I spent 30-40 minutes discussing my full options to warranties at the dealership, and the head of finance told me BMW no longer offers extended warranties on M cars (not in general). Hopefully he wasn't selling me on a bill of goods to sell their aftermkt warranties, but I asked a couple times (since I was surprised as well) to confirm, and he said no M cars.

I just purchased a Stated Care package from EasyCare. 3 yrs or 85k. $3,300 with a $500 deductible. I can take it to any dealerships and they will cover.
I'm now considering a Maintenance plan from BMW. |

I talked to Joe Diss yesterday at BMW of Silver Spring (My service advisor at that dealership) and he confirmed they offer the warranty still. Going to check on prices when I get my new exhaust installed Thursday.

Okay, it's also my dealership (Kevin is my advisor)... if the finance dept offers any 'factory', extended warranties... then I will truly be pissed I've been given such misinformation.

Well...first off, BMW of Alex do not do the BMW extended. I mean you can but they recommend a third party they have a good relationship with.
http://www.thewarrantygroup.com/prod...auto-warranty/ Mine was I think $3900 for 4yr/50k on my previously owned E90 M3. (Total coverage of 8yr 100k) The deductible is $100 per visit. The coverage is great...I mean really excellent.

So, I called back the dealership (Tischer/Silver Spring), and spoke to the same finance guy - he claims he did remember our conversation but started backtracking a bit; 'oh, well, WE don't sell BMW extended warranties', and 'it's our Mileone warranty that does not cover M cars, but the Fidelity warranty does'. Which led me to ask how one goes about getting the factory extended warranties - he quickly responded, 'oh, well we can help you with that as well if that's what you want'. Considering that 2-3 inconsistencies were offered in one short call, I completely see how the first conversation went. Sorry for sharing inaccurate info all. All in all, it seems unless you find a place to buy BMW extended warranties, it's more about finding an aftermkt one the dealership you plan on servicing your car endorses. (POO - painfully obvious observation - for the day)

When I bought my extended one, I got a good deal. Since I bought the BMW extended warranty with adding the extended maintenance, I got about $1500 off.
Even though I got a good deal, it still wasn't cheap.

did you guys see this?
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=697812 IMO extended maintenance is a wasted $$ since most of it is DIY. buy the Bentley manual and you'll save a ton working on your own car

re-read post #4, including the first link I provided to M5board. This was for a m5, just FYI. But i'm sure the sales guy will extend you a good deal if you said I referred you.
PM me for details.

while agree some maintenance can be done through DIY, some of us are not DIY inclined, or have the available time and resources (tools, lift). and before you ask, No, I unfortunately cannot make it to CCA DIY days.
