BMW Seamless Media Access Preview

COMMENTS

BMW has released another video clip preview of its future BMW ConnectedDrive technology, this time of seamless media access technology.

The two specific features previewed in this clip is the Follow-Me and Mood-Based Playlist music features. The follow-me function will allow your car to access your media in your home so you may listen to any music you have stored at home. The Mood-based playlist allows you to select the mood you are in and the car will do the rest in selecting which songs to play for your mood.

I would say that most stuff in a car, except for safety features is pointless if all you want to do is drive. The radio is pointless, no one really needs that fifth seat belt, or the headrest on the middle back seat, or power windows/locks/mirrors, heated mirrors, compass, ///M steering wheel, heated steering wheel, moon roof, ipod integration, etc etc etc.

... but I agree that downloading stuff to your car is pretty cool and certainly worth paying for as a fun useless feature.

I have to disagree with you (no offense ) because this seems to have a lot of potential. We already link our smart phones to our computers (i.e. outlook), our computers to our home entertainment systems, our cars to our garage doors and our TV's remotes to just everything we can possibly think of. I personally just decided to jump the fence and wire all my light fixtures to my Harmony Universal remote and I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised with the results. We live in an age where technology is moving at a very rapid pace and I believe that it's only a matter of time before we start expecting all of our devices to link and communicate together.

I wish they'd stop adding pointless features like this (that nobody asked for), and instead stop cutting more and more corners.
I'd prefer to have cloth visors and a more complete emergency toolkit instead of a media feature that nobody is going to use anyway.

If you work @ BMW you have to be fluent in German. Although some departments refer to discussions in English, German is compulsory @ BMW.
We even run a language class where non-German speakers have to attend.

I don't know from media, I would rather be driving my BMW. Stuck with a Jetta rental car this week. Very slow.

Because it wasn't mentioned on 1addicts hardly means no one asked for it. I'm personally excited about the new features in the upcoming models. Will I use them all, no. Am I glad they will be included, definitely.

Big Ditto on this..........they are slowly killing "the ultimate driving machine" and are adding these pointless features to stay ahead of other manufactures FAIL
