Not a fan of autometer gauges -- get 10 of them and 8 will give you different answers...

Drew, if you're still looking, I like gauges to be near field of vision (like Scott's E46 integrated in mirror)

This thread is a tad old! I already did my gauges. But I agree I thinks Scott's setup is the best I've seen.

Defi BF series in Amber, one of the best on the market with pressures under 2bar/24psi. Definitely get something that is analog because boost climbs quick and a needle helps quite a bit.

A controller is a controller, you plug a sensor into one end and plug the other end into the gauge. Only important functions are warning and peak hold, so get whichever is cheaper since nothing spectacular comes out of the controller itself. So even though the Version 2.0 of the Defi Link ended on April 2010, do not hesitate to purchase that unit because it is a proven and solid piece. Cannot say the same about the newer version. Oh and the last time Defi changed their controller was in 2005, so 'always change' could be an inaccurately perceived.

That confuses me very much because it sounds like it contradicts itself in at least three different ways. Here's what I know. I wanted to buy the Defi gauges myself, but when I saw their controller was discontinued I backed away. I was told they had a newer controller coming out soon, but I couldn't wait. Defi was my #1 choice -- so I was very disappointed. When I researched this, I remember one version of the controller supported the HUD and the other didn't. So I don't think it's as easy as saying all of their controllers are the same.

If anybody is experienced with Defi, maybe they can chime in and clarify all of this confusion. I really wanted to purchase Defi -- and I still do.
I have defi oil temp, oil pressure, boost in psi. I am confused to see why you were confused because between 2005-2010, there were only 1 version of the controller available so it was your ONLY choice to be purchased new. And before 2005 you only had ONE choice for new controller too. As I mentioned earlier, Defi Link version II, which will support HUD and everything Defi made.

So why you backed away, I do not know. Why was the current controller does not meet your needs, I also do not know, so maybe you are looking for something the new controller will or might offer.

went with the Defi Advance CR unit in 52mm size, boost pressure up to 1, 2 Bar which is the lowest scale I could find.

At least I can see 0, 4 bar fairly easily as it takes up a good 5th of the rotation.

Cost $249 for the gauge and $189 for the control unit.

I can run anther two gauges off the control unit, but I don't need anything else really, unless there are suggestions?

We have also looked into doing this, for people that don't want a vent anymore:
