When I started DE I thought people who wore them looked silly. Like they wanted to look like real race car drivers. That's because when I started out I didn't know sh!t. Now that I've been around the track for a while and gone to pro races and such I'm starting to think it wouldn't be a bad idea to wear one.

I have one, but dont wear it. Got really expensive one, 1 size smaller on purpose, to motivate myself to lose some weight. 3 years later, i am 2 sizes bigger and now it doesnt fit at all

I've just recently started wearing one to the track. In light of what happened to Paul Walker and the other fellow I don't want to burned to a crisp like that. To me safety is paramount. I have a 4 pt Schroth Pro Fit harness, HANS device, Sparco fire suit and a VAC E92 fire extinguisher in my weekend warrior M3. I don't feel it's an over kill to have all these things in my car. Man, I look real fast. Lol. Again, the operative word is "I only look fast.

I have before, but usually only because I'm driving another car that needs a suit (open wheel) and switch to a tin top for a session or two. I don't bust out the suit for the E92, but I wouldn't judge anyone for it.
The likelihood of a street car catching fire is much lower than a well-built racecar, which is less likely than a rigged-together racecar, but anything is possible. |

Suits are primarily for safety and secondly for comfort. If safety is important to you at the track, then wear a suit. Same reason we wear helmets. Silly or not, safety comes first.
