Just ordered my new SC kit - YAY!
Hey all,
Long term lurker, too few postings.... After having owning the car for just under 12months I have been considering trading out of it due to a pretty rocky start with a few driveline issues After driving 'read' (thrashing the hell out of) a few new cars, I couldn't find one that really gave me the same smile as the M did. After installing a new zorst a couple of weeks ago cos it was cheap as chips, a huge amount of research and a few more dawn runs through the twisties to convince me - I finally dropped the cash for the new SC Kit tonight. I was down to two kits, the AA kit vs the VF engineering kit. After requesting the install manuals from their respective sales teams, although the AA install was much better detailed, the VF kit had much less cutting involved which appealed to me. Also the idea of running air to water IC and a heat exchanger inside the intake plenum and the overall quality and design of the mounts for the SC sold me. Link Here: http://vfengineering.com/e9092-m3/ This vid prob also pushed me over the edge. So - X'ing fingers, by the 3rd week of June I should have the kit on and there will be another forced M3 in sydney running around Let the modding begin Last edited by snezy; 05-31-2015 at 07:50 AM.. |

Nice one Joe
TBH I probably just overlooked the Harrop kits fairly quickly. I didn't find all that much info about them initially and just moved on. I do like the idea of retaining the stock airbox but on the flip side. Im not really a fan of SC whine. Having said that - I'm sure its a monster.... Even if I wanted to change my mind, i couldn't now. What power do they deliver? Last edited by snezy; 06-01-2015 at 04:54 AM.. |

Hahaha - nice
Free fitment is pretty darn appealing but I'm in Sydney, so i don't apply anyway. All the good kits seem to make similar power and torque as far as I can see. And as we all know, every dyno is different and can produce different results on different days. Im not really a dyno queen so a few HP here and there makes little to no difference to me - its all about being able to get that much HP to the ground I suppose, and how it comes on that makes the difference. Those power curves are bloody impressive hey! So much better than turbo. To compare, I have been looking at this thread. 91 & 100 octane is listed but no 98 - so no really close comparison. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=588697 |

It just amazes me, how people are never satisfied. To me, power is about bragging rights in a pub conversation. Useability is zero on a daily basis on public road. I would rather have the money in my pocket. My 2c.
By the way, this is not intended at you

It gets to a point where you've re-engineered the car so much that you may as well have bought a different car. Plus, Handling trumps Power on Track Days.... |

I love the handling in my car. Its a fantastic car to drive! I just wanted to match the handling with the power. (or maybe slightly overpower it)
I do enjoy spirited driving and the occasional track day but mostly, mine is used as a daily on the street as unfortunate as that is. I've owned 'way' too many cars for my own good and I will never be happy with any car I buy, I will always want to mod it no matter how good or bad it is, its in my blood. |

Each to their own I suppose...
I drove a few cars more powerful than the M but they either made me feel older than I am, or just didn't give me the buzz the M does. I have a client that has a modded 2013 M5 and yes - its clearly a monster but it doesn't give me the same smile as my car does and the baby seats in the back seem to fit all too well. |
