You beat me to it . But nobody answered .

For what I can remember, he could only surpass the record number of wins or poles (RBR already broke # of poles, but not Vettel), and equal the other. He broke pretty much everything else, no ? Don't worry; I'm sure commentators will clue us in .

Well, F1 has a 19 race season now so the comparisons to the 16 race era sort of overstate Vettel's achievements, good as he is. Vettel ostensibly has the record for total points, but I don't think wins or poles by a single driver. He could only tie Schumacher for race wins in a season, but I think can he beat Mansell's record for poles in a season.

all I know is that they better work really hard... everyone complained that Ferrari was so dominant etc, and times change significantly... and there it is, Red Bull dominating the car manufacturers. Looking forward to next year in that regard.
I hope this race is won by McLaren or Ferrari. Or Schumacher, but that's just not going to happen... unless there is a pile-up at the first lap and P1-P6 retire. OK, I'm going to go day dream now.

Wow......just when McLaren thought they had a lock on P1/P2 in qualifying..........here comes Vettel again and takes P1. Hammy and Button are 2-3, Webber, Alonso, Massa round out the top 6.

This will be interesting to see since McLaren is running very strong most of the weekend.

Was lots of fun to watch. I predict a fairly boring race, though - I'm not convinced that DRS will do the trick on this circuit. The low temps mean that tire degradation should not be an issue, either.

Vettel absolutely at the peak of the career at the moment. He can always find a tenth or so here and there. But absolutely good to see the McLaren guys made then fight harder for the pole.

Beautiful photos! This circuit is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the twilight hours. I just hope like crazy they can improve the actual races and make them exciting. They have the cash to make it better, that is for sure - if all else fails, they can just remove the third sector and make it into a Monza-like high speed circuit

First Qualifying I missed this season but woke up to the good results of VETTEL in P1 again after three FP that didnt yield much for him! What is up with the McLaren boys switching to their smurf outfits this weekend? ha ha. Good job to HAM and BUT though.

And don't forget he got pole with McLaren scoring better times in sector 1 and 2. Just amazing how he can get the absolute best out of his car in changing conditions (track getting cooler)... and make up the difference in ONE sector . I have no doubt the McLarens are better for this track, but it was all about the drivers IMO. And performing at their best when it counts.

It's looking like next season should be a phenomenal one, with cars pretty much equal now. And sadly, the end of NA V8 engines .

Hey, did you guys see the camera angle showing Vettel's eyes on his P1 lap? It was epic. I didn't know how little drivers can move their heads; it's mostly peripheral vision doing the work. I'd feel claustrophobic like that, even as a sportbike rider, used to peripheral vision to nail turn points. Amazing the level of focus they need; the guy didn't even blink. Take care gang.

Still 2.4 liter V8 next year, but V6 for the 2013.

Don't forget the drivers do that for 300km for every race (except Monaco), for 19+ races, plus Practice sessions, and Qualifying, plus pre-season test sessions. Not just claustrophobic, the position they sitting also limiting their vision up front. And the race engineers, vibration and G-Forces keep trying "distracting" them.

Then they still putting up lap times consistently and when to push or conserve tires, and strategy...etc...

seriously

Exciting end to qualifying. I thought LH might have been the spoiler, but SV picked up more than 2/10th in the last sector. Awesome

That's what I meant. I might still follow F1 with the turbo V6s, but sure as hell won't attend a race. Hope to do that next year, right on time to celebrate my half century on this earth . Hopefully in Austin, but have my doubts it'll happen. If not, then Montreal. Take care.
