Order Premium

Just wanted to say Hi first and thank you all. I've been reading this forum for a few month's and have found it very informative. Anyway, I started calling dealers here in Miami the two that I've called both want a 20K premium over the price of the car!!! Just wondering if anyone else that have placed orders already have been asked for this kind of premium?

It's, unfortunately, a common practice in high-demand areas to ask for a "market adjustment" premium. IMO, you are stupid to pay it. You have a couple choices. If you want the car fairly soon (in the next year), I suggest you go out of your area to a dealer where Ms are less in demand. You can still get the car delivered to a local dealer with a courtesy delivery, or you can make a road trip out of it. If you're more patient, you can wait until the demand falls enought that premiums cannot be commanded, even in hot areas.

Don't pay it! I paid sticker and not a penny more. Hunt around and call dealerships in your area or wait for the '09s....

Call Joe LeBlanc at Dreyer & Reinbold of Greenwood in Indianapolis. D&RG is always very fair and they have great service, too.

God bless,
Tom

Not planning on paying it and since I'm not patient I will be taking a road trip fairly soon. Dont really care how far I have to travel but I want this car before the end of the year!

Send a PM to member timsev on this board. He works at a BMW dealer and has taken orders from several members.

Might work... Plus, investigate having the dealer prep the car and then arranging to ship the car via closed trailer (Inter-City?) directly to you. Can't cost more than $1-1.5K. Cheaper than paying the $20K premium and much more convenient than traveling a long distance to pick up your car....Good luck in whatever you do.
