Absolutely False. I have had a C300 loaner car when the 63 was in for service and the only thing both steering wheels have in common is the three point star in the middle. Last edited by MikeG_C63_AMG; 11-04-2009 at 02:42 PM.. |

Thank you for your objectivity. If I could afford to, I too, would have an E90 in my garage.

I also like the slightly spongy feeling of the M steering wheel over the harder AMG wheel.

The Novillo feels nice against your body but the perforations on C's 10's and 2's feel nice in your hand. Also, the stains on the leather are much less noticable on the perforated parts. I personally like the hand grooves on the 10's and 2's too rather than the super girthy M wheel. Its just a little too thick for a great grip. But thats just me. They both have better interior (everything) than any other 3 or C can provide.

Definitely is. My 911s steering wheel and my FJ's steering wheel are quite close in girth but both are on the skinnier side. Not a day goes by with me wanting a thicker steering wheel.

While I like the M wheel a lot, I personally like the grooves in the AMG wheel. They force you (and remind you) to hold the wheel correctly and I can lock in my thumbs and forefinger.
I have a 996 3-spoke wheel on my 993 that has the same grooves. So, I'm also used to it. |

What if you hold the wheel at 9 and 3? Like a proper race driver.
I love the M3, but I could only afford to pick one in this category. The madness of the C63 as well as its simplicity (big engine, slushbox, non-adjustable suspension) won me over. I bought this car to entertain me and "coddle" me, and it does put a big grin on my face.

I saw one the other day and it looked really sweet.
I had a hard time deciding between the two, but in the end I went with the M Its always fun having a stratospheric redline. The thicker steering wheel and overall nicer interior won me over. I had a 335i before the M, and everything just felt more homey in the M3 than in the C63.

DCT Motorsports has a solution: Custom re-upholstering of stock wheel (CLS AMG shown). They also do work on BMW and other fine vehicles.

i rented a C class when on a biz trip, it was midly loaded. i really hated it, the ac sucked (was in FL in summer) the egros sucked. there was a lag in the engine and the interior sucked. i felt the C63 could be no where near this, so while i was there i went and test drove it. the susp, brakes and motor were the only things better in my op. the interior still sucked so did the ac and the interior was pretty much identical. the layout of the controls are annoying.
as for the M3 i wanted a true manual and a 2 door and i liked the interior much better even though it is more bland then in the previous E46 M. there both fast and i wasn't getting one to go drag race people at stop lights so it didn't matter much if one was 1 sec faster to 60mph or to 1/4mile. there both fast enough to get you in trouble or killed if your not careful. i really liked the mdm feature in the M3 as well M3 was a no brainer for me, but having 2 past M cars i am sure that had something to do with my choice. you can't go wrong with either though

I did not have the C63 in my list when I was shopping only due to the fact that I wanted a Coupe and I wanted MT.
My choices were the S5 and the M3 which is what I chose after not being impressed at all with the driving feel and power of the S5. Had I not cared about MT and was shopping for a 4 door I would have easily chosen the C63.

If I lived in Florida I'd get the C63. I grew up in South FL. The roads are flat and straight, everything is a grid. It's not suited to an M3.

This is so true. I live in NC and there is a company that lets you drive all sorts of cars up to the Mnts and back, and I drove both. Out of a F430, Gallardo, Aston Martin, GTR, 911 Turbo, M3, and 63 AMG the Amg was my least favortie, and the M3 was #3... same went for everyone else on the trip.
Yes the Merc has a great sound, ok, but it drives like poo, shifts like it too. The M3 I drove had the dual clutch which i compaired to a little butler just ready to hand you the next gear whether it be up or down... awesome. For 10k you get a much better warranty, a more reliable car, and speaking from experience a car that will do EXACTLY what you want it to do. They don't call it the ultimate driving machine for nothing! sorry about the typos... on my phone |

I think the c63 amg interior is really bad. the only thing that really nice is the seat, but that's about it. exterior it is on par or slightly worse looking than the e90 m3. |

factory exhaust on the c63 is amazing.
I'm at 30,000 miles and I haven't seen the track yet, go for the mad power!

I don't quite trust the C class reliability to this day. Back in 08 when I took a C63 for a spin it did not have a LSD yet and the ride was pretty harsh. It's even worse with the LSD package now.
