Anybody go from an E92 M3 to an E90 M3?
I am just curious to see if anyone out there has already made the transition. Don't get me wrong, I love my '08 AW E92 M3. But being a dad of 2 growing kids, it sometimes makes it more convenient to take the wife's 4 door SUV rather than take the M3 out. Although, it does make me appreciate it a bit more when I do take it out..... anyway, just curious if anyone's done it... Cheers.....

that is a bummer if you have to change, but, at least you are putting family first; and that is important.
I would change if it's a "must". |

On the other hand, I like the shorter height of the E92, and I would miss the hell out of the CF roof, E92-specific BMW Performance Mk. II spoiler, and that sexy E92 rear.

Had an E92 335i before - the decision to go E90 on the M3 was easy:
- cheaper than the coupe - same performance - smaller doors (had big problem with this) - more utility (kids, family, etc.) - like the looks better If you're talking about a trade-in, then the money situation is reversed since you'll take a bath on your resale.

200% agree! This was THE deciding factor for me between the coupe and sedan! |

I think the coupe is so much sexier. The CF two-tone makes the car look so mean! The sedan looks very big and bulky next to the coupe. But yes, if I had a family, i would've gotten the sedan |

Both have their good points. I for one am REEEEALY getting tired of the huge doors in my E92. They are a pain if the space you are parking in is even remotely tight. Looks wise I prefer the E92 but that's just a personal preference. Can't go wrong with either one IMHO.

The flip side of the small doors is, they're a pain in the ass to get into if you're big or tall. I hate having to curl myself into the wife's sedan, and then the B pillar is right in my light of sight.
Where BMW really screws up on the E92 doors is where they put the door hold points. The first point is way too small and essentially useless. The second one is too big to use in most parking lots, and the third one is only for the car wash on a slow day.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
