Simple. Few supercars reach 200 mph, and have A LOT more HP than what the OP claimed, and are A LOT more aerodynamic. Simple physics. If everything else checks out (stock size wheels/tires, proper pressure, level road, calm wnds, tune didn't add a 'correction' factor to the speedo, etc), OP has a lot more power than he claimed. The M3 is NOT a 200-mph car without major modifications, period. Good day.

I don't know about the M3 in the video, but there's no way my stock M3 (or my friends) can go near 200mph. The f430 has more hp, more aerodynamic, it can't even break 320kmh, how can the M3 outperform the f430?

Thought stock m3 was good for 180 to 185. After that it takes an exponential increase in power and reduction of drag for each mph up the ladder.

Gear ratio - F1 car has 800 hp - with weight around 700 kg - and with specification for "slow" track will hit limiter at 320 km/h ...

I hit 203 on my speedo at the florida mile
203 is what I saw on my speedo before braking at the Florida Mile last year, well thru the 1.5 mile marker

Sorry guys elp is absolutely correct here. It is simple physics and simple physics speaks way louder than a video. Who knows what car was shown in the video. 414 hp with the drag coeficient and frontal area makes the M3 simply NOT a 200 mph car maybe not even 190 mph. As far as the car making a 3.9-4.1 second 0-60 that is well within the realms of possibility for a car at this power and weight. Thus that is not a good counter point. Also, this particular topic, top speed, speedo correction, etc have all been beaten to death with many threads here on the forum. IIRC the speedo correction is close to 4%, I don't think it is as high as 5% on stock wheels (then again I have never tested it well above 100 mph personally.

A stock M3 is not a 200 mph car. Today, some dude on this forum posted a 207 mph run in a 570 hp M3. Thus, a 415 hp stock vehicle is unable to hit 200 mph. It's impossible.
Also, WTF is everyone redlining their cars in top gear? This is stupid as f*ck and ridiculous. No need to do this on a public road. If you are on a track/strip, all good with me, but still dumb IMO. |

Again. The higher octane fuel, the higher power and torque. I'm not surprised that someone's doesn't hit 290 km/h (180mph) by stock M3 if refuelin' 91-octane urine.
So let's go back: |
