Need advice on track/street tires

I just purchased a set of 18x9.5 +22 and 18x10.5 +20 Superlaps for the track, My main purpose for this set is track use, but i would be lying if i didnt say that i would be tempted to occasionally drive them on the street. Im not a complete track nut, Im on the track once ever month or two. I previously used R888's on the track but want to go with a different option. I really would prefer something well rounded.

My first question is what would be the largest and Tallest tire i could run, I defiantly want some height on the tire (which is the main reason i chose 18's) because i do not track very often the way that this setup looks will be important too me.

Second question would be what tire would achieve my goal as a good track tire that wouldn't be completely ruined if driven on the street occasionally

Thanks in advance for advice

You've driven on R888's before, so do you only want r-compound recommendations or are you considering street tires as well?

18x10.5" et20 is an aggressive offset when combined with wide, meaty tires.

Common rear sizes are:
285/30/18 (short)
295/30/18 (short)
285/35/18 (tall)
295/35/18 (tallest)

Because of the offset it's hard to say exactly what would and would not fit.

For the front you'd want to run a 275/35/18. Ideal combos would be as listed below assuming there isn't a rear fitment issue.

275/35/18 and 285/35/18
275/35/18 and 295/35/18

There are no r-compounds available in either of those sizes. For extreme summer tires you'd be looking at Hankook RS-3's and Nitto NT-05's

Because of the lack of availability just to get a certain "look" I would dump that very limiting requirement and pickup the following:

265/35/18 and 295/30/18 R888

Function over form!

Thanks for the good info, The only thing that makes me shy away from the R888 is the 30mm tall, thats what the shop suggested as well, and i understand that it is preferred performance wise but im afraid ill be disappointed with the stance/look but i am certainly considering a Non R-compound tire,

I would look into Hankook RS-3, Dunlop Star-Specs, Nitto NT05, and if you want something cheaper but still grip pretty well Federal 595 RS-R.

Good luck!
