I agree, the 3 series interiors are A+. I love my 335 from the inside. It may LOOK pedestiran, but the quality and fit and finish are avant garde! I have seen Audis and benzes in this range and they may LOOK nice, but very clunky and cheap....

The RS5 looks very nice but I still like my M3 better. I've never driven an RS5 but I agree with what they say about the "Connection" with the car & road

Yeah and they are predicting a base price of around 70,000.

Look at the 0-120 mph accelaration numbers. M3 passes the Audi at 50 mph and keeps on pulling and reaches 120 mph, 2.1 seconds faster than RS5.

huge difference. at that speed, every tenth is a car length. But then the V will be 10 lengths ahead of the M3 .....

In pure speed, the V smokes them both.

Yeah, but still a 13,000 premium on the M3. However, I have suspicion that the next generation F30 M3 will be in the same ballpark. If history serves itself, it will probably be 8-10,000 more than the current generation.

That's the base price. The base price of the M3 coupe is what, $58,000 I believe. Lots of M3s are 70K but that's with many options. I'm not familiar with Audi but the 70K base of the RS5 would be comparable only if the base car includes lots of amenities that you pay extra for in the BMW.

Cheers.

Ahh good points forgot about that. I was thinkin of what I paid for the M3 with options compared to the Audi base price. I was actually hoping the RS5 put up better numbers to push BMW to make an even better car.

With a $13k premium I couldn't imagine choosing it over the M3 unless I needed AWD. I thought it would outperform the M by a lot. There has to be some reasoning behind the price. Do you guys think the price may be adjusted based on the comparisons coming out if the RS5 is aimed to compete with the M3? Good info in this thread.

I think there's no other car to compare with the M3... Especially when you hit the M button... The driver's feeling to it. The sound at the end of the video was fenomenal... Respect BMW...

So that says something to the Audi developers and engineers:

GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD! Lol...

Even for a 3-year-old car, Bmw is still full of win.

$70K is just a guess right now. We'll need to wait until it comes to the US. However, Audis have traditionally been priced a bit above similar BMWs. The premium over the M3 may not be worth it to you. But, as the reviews seem to be saying, the RS5 is a more refined car then the M3. And to some people that makes it the better car.

Same for the Caddy. To some people the fact that it's faster than the M3 and is built in the US (I think) make it the better car.

But, I'm not "some people".

Cheers.

You are smoking crack.
I can agree you with on C63, but A5/S5 to M3? ha. There's no comparison.
My car felt like a civic after seating in S5.

About this 3.9 sec 0-60 thing: I believe it. But it's not the fact that the cars did it in 3.9 seconds that's important. It's the fact that the M3 and CTS were the same time and the RS5 behind. You can't compare this 3.9 seconds to one done by another car, in another place at another time with another driver. It's close; enough to say two cars are similar in performance, but not which one is the fastest.

Cheers.

It reinforces my decision to get the CTS-V sedan, which I did, back in late 08 when the 09 V came out. Interestingly--I had narrowed it down to the M5 and the V, and I wouldn't have thought to compare it to the M3 (Maybe because I already have a highly modified 335 that runs 11s).

But It may be a good comaparison (the M3 and the V) when your talking about the V coupe.

the factual stuff is easy--the V wins the performance part handily. The subjective part is highly a matter of opinion....but I can see how the M3 does so well being the owner of a BMW myself. All in--if I were buying now--I would take the V again. Just too fast and agile to say no to.

My two cents....
There's simply one reason why I wouldn't end up buying a CTS-V: it weighs too much. 4200+ lbs kills a lot of the fun no matter the performance of a car. My experience driving an M5 around a track felt completely lackluster compared to going around the same one in an M Coupe.

I'd be fine with owning a lesser performing car when the weight difference is basically 500 lbs.
