Total 10w 50

So the shop I go to just put in Total 10w 50 claiming it did better than Castro 10w 60 in some comparo test. I've not been able to find anything on line claiming that, but I have found ecstuning (http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-M3-.../Oil/ES262947/) selling it. Going to the track later this week and wondering if I should make them swap it out. Does anyone have any data to back up going for castrol other than that's what everyone recommends? TIA

FWIW, I wouldn't have had them use that oil until they showed the comparison.

Unlike the S54, the S65 was designed for use with TWS/EDGE 10w-60, although some have run other oils, I don't think your engine will grenade, but would be good to get an oil analysis.

That was unclear. I'm sure this isn't going to cause major problems in the short term; it doesn't look like a bad oil and the weight is not hugely different. If I wasn't planning on going to the track I might not be concerned.

Interesting. In any case, they ended up using the 10w 50.
