Macht Schnell releases their Stage 2 Intake Charge Kit!
The folks at Macht Schnell just sent IND info on their latest intake kit for the E9x M3, and this one seems to be miles ahead of what’s available now. I got an early preview of the kit, so I thought I’d post a preview and see what people thought of it.
Looking at available intake options for the E9x M3, it’s easy to see that most current offerings are deficient in various ways. Some use cheap bent sheetmetal that can corrode and does not provide factory fit, finish, and durability. Some use Carbon Fiber- a material that can easily get damaged if someone is too liberal in tightening their hose clamps. Macht Schnell‘s materials choice really sets this intake kit apart from any other on the market. The Macht Schnell intake system is strong rotocast polyethylene plastic. This not only allows for a durable product, it also gives the parts a factory textured look, to match the factory intake manifold. The interior of the larger diameter intake piping has a smooth polished surface for perfect airflow. This ideal interior finish is really only possible with Macht Schnell’s construction technique. Macht Schnell’s intake scoops are also constructed from the same polyethylene, and will not lose their finish quality from rocks or road debris. The scoops themselves have smooth radii and a factory appearance for a very high end look. The kit comes with a Macht Schnell air filter, intake air scoops, a larger charge pipe, and all of the necessary silicone couplers and hose clamps for a clean and easy install.

2 questions if you don't mind, Nate.
Can the chargepipe section be purchased in and of itself, rather than having to buy this whole entire kit? (MS Filter and MS Scoops.) Looking at the chargepipe, I see that the air filter is held onto the chargepipe differently than from stock. Is the (I assume) provided MS filter the only filter that will be compatible with the chargepipe? Thanks Nate, I do agree that as of this moment, this does seem like the best chargepipe offering. Edit: Also curious about pricing and dyno charts like everyone else. Thanks again! Last edited by LateBraking; 08-05-2010 at 05:36 PM.. |

Sorry guys, no pricing or dyno info yet. We just wanted to see what people thought of the parts, and share the sneak peak with the community.

Looks good, i like the texture match and nice solid fit and seal compared to others.
Also good improvement i'm sure from a stg 1. Well i'm not sure if the MS stg 1 filter structure is weak like the AFE ones. But mine is getting softer with time, and doest get quite a good seel to the flange anymore. So upgrading to stg 2 will get the issue out, and the filter will last alot longer if well maintained. Now lets just hope the price is right. And nt overkill like the others ive seen |

Is there flexibility built into the elbow to accommodate the movement of the engine under load?

No thoughts without knowing performance gains. Unless it's just fancy plastic?
