Advice needed about wheels!!

Hey guys, I bought my m3 in canada and i'm planning to purchase a set of wheels from a board member who is located in the US. The wheels come with the rims and tires but no tpms. I was told before that the canadian versions of the m3 does not require tpms; however, the set of wheels that i'm purchasing doesnt come with the air valve so i am right now wondering what I need to purchase in order to even inflate the tires. Many thanks!!

Uh what? No air valve?

You should definately not purchase rims with tires and no air valve. I mean how would you inflate the tire? Unless they are those special tires that don't need air. They come prefilled with that foam stuff ... I believe its called "great stuff". That stuff really works. I use it to fill in window gaps as well, but it gives great results when used inside tires. Corners like a train on rails.

Keep us posted on how they ride.

Canadian wheels have the TPM sensors external to the wheel. US wheels have them as part of the wheel.

Purchase the wheels, and install standard valve stems and you be fine.

I don't understand why there should be no valve stems in the wheels you are purchasing? There should be valve stems with a TPM attached to each valve stem. If you find it to be so you can remove the US TPM from each wheel and then sell the 4 US TPM for around $100- for the set of 4.

Let us know what you fine, ask the seller to clarify and ask for photos and close up shots.

You might ask what is the difference between the 2 systems ...

1) The US system will point to the wheel that is flat or needs air via the iDrive (the wheel in trouble will show up red).

2) The Canadian system will only let you know that there is a flat or low pressure, you need to check it yourself what tire it is by checking with a pressure gauge.

in the pictures the tires are mounted on the rims but deflated and also the seller wants to keep the tpms for his new set of wheels. So I'm assuming i only need to purchase a regular valve stem?

That is correct or have the seller purchase and install them to veryfy that all tires are good and usable.

PS. get close ups of the tire thread (penny check) unless you have those close up pictures and are happy with the amount of thread life that is left.
