E89 Z4 Driving Experience

Any M3 owner here owned/driven an E89 Z4 (2nd Gen Z4), specifically the 35i? Is it as bad as the reviewers say?

Yep - I had a sDrive35is, was a blast to drive, and was comfortable enough to take on a 1000mi road trip from so cal to nor cal and back. I enjoyed driving it more than my F83 M4. That being said, I wouldn't want the Z4 to be my only car just because of how limited the storage space is, but it makes a great secondary/weekend car in my opinion. I'm a big fan of convertibles (living in so cal where they are useful year-round) and the Z4 was one of my favorites. I don't recall having any significant issues with it in my ~2 years of having it (it was a lease).

The E93 M3 is still my favorite overall BMW to date, but the E89 Z4 is a close second.

That's good to hear cos a lot of the reviews I read didnt have good things to say about the driving experience. What mods did you have on yours (if any)?

No mods (other than a SmartTop module).
