"M-thusiast"
This is kind of a follow up thread, as some months ago, a rod managed to "poke through" my engine block on my 2008 M3. BMW NA stepped up and provided a crate motor, and after 3 1/2 months of 'breaking it in' again, the 1200 mile oil change & a quick road trip up the coast, she's as good as new! I had all rear glass tinted very dark with a 4" visor on the windshield, something I do w/ all my rides. I'm already on the cops 'radar', so I didn't do the front glass, a ticket here in So. Cal & another reason for them to pull me over.
I took a few shots today & included a shot or two of my other rides, a lightly modded '09 Speed3, Stage 3 '98 Volvo S70 T5 Manual, lightly modded '99 Volvo S70 NA and my Sunday cruiser & show car - an '82 Volvo 244 with only 75k original miles & the original paint still shiny! Not just an "enthusiast", but now, an "M-thusiast". PS: don't 'hate' on the vanity plate(s) http://www.flickr.com/photos/2691448...46621096/show/ |

What's the story behind the imitation Ferrari stickers on a Volvo? There use to be a red volvo in my town with those stickers on it.

Fun little rides, aren't they? Funny how an earlier thread showed that G35 with a "by by M3" vanity plate, and some thought it might refer to the Mazda 3. NOT the Mazdaspeed 3, for sure. I stopped wasting my 'petrol' on G35's and Z's (not the 370!) a long time ago. Like taking candy from a baby! |

The white was my first, bought new. 176k now, and I pulled a 17' ski boat with it for 2 summers (hideaway hitch under the bumper), and put that thing through hell & it's still kicking! The red came w/ a decent turbo (240hp stock) & a manual tranny - now has a "grande" 18T turbo, ECU, angle valve job, exhaust, manifold work, etc & puts down +/-305hp at the crank. The '82 was bought from a grandpa who drove it sparingly for 26 yrs & it sports custom everything: sounds, suspension, brakes, exhaust, interior, detailed engine bay (& tranny!), & more...
The Volvo geeks call them "bricks", as they used to be shaped that way. Fun & timeless style, & due to the turbo vs N/A models, someone once told me, "you never know which one will smoke you", as they put many a respectable car in the rearview. My online name was developed a long time ago, when I had 2 "bricks"...now it's out of hand! |

Since this is an M3 Forum, I must say, though...'to hell w/ them Volvos!' - it would take at least 1 and 1/2 highly modded ones to run w/ the big dog in the garage now, my M3!!! Last edited by taleof2bricks; 09-11-2011 at 03:26 PM.. |
