I do my breakfast at home, than drive straight away to work. This means;
1 I arrive on time at work

That big tray on the E36 center console (on cars without the arm rest) is perfect for wedging 500ml bottles, McDonald's Milkshakes and bottles of Evian.

Every car needs cupholders and it isn't like they add much weight.

Whats funny is that in one thread you have people worrying that the M3 has gotten too soft...less like a race car and more like a luxury car.

Yeah but it's a bit of space stuck in the interior that has no detriment to how the car is when you're really pushing it, wanting that M3 buzz.

Southlight: My lord, that's a horrid interior with or without cup-holders. The iDrive looks awful where it is, looks more coherent how they've added it to the new X5.

i want 10 cupholders. all in different sizes for my super sized diet coke at 6 am, my in n out milkshake at noon, and then my big gulp slurpee after work. the remaining seven for my dr. pepper

I think one of the reasons Europeans don't have cupholders and don't drink soda/coffee/water in their cars the way Americans do is that Europeans work MUCH MUCH less than Americans and have a lot more free time. Isn't there some amazing law in Europe (Germany for sure) where peole have to work less than 40 hours per week? Something like 37 hours per week. Hell, sometimes I work 30 hours in one day!! (Meaning to start at 630 AM one day and get done around noon or one the next day).

Silly Europeans.

I think I have a pretty good work ethic (family is from the midwest, IA, as well) but I know how and when to relax and take it easy as well. Europeans by law and by custom have a much better view of the work/life/recreation balance. They have better social systems and less crime, they travel more and generally work less. IMO Americans could really benefit from a good dose of European culture, especially those so unofrtunate to have 2 weeks vacation and 1 week sick time per year.

Our government would never accept it though. We need to be the super consuming, overtime working gluttons in order to keep our economy on top and the war machine running. I guess someone has to play that role though...

I can speak for both sides. I was born in Italy, family from there, etc etc, but raised in America. In Europe life is a lot more relaxed. There is no question about it. People don't sweat the small stuff. But stuff still gets done, and quite honestly it probably gets done better b/c Europeans realize that a man has about 20 to 30 hours of productivity in him every week, and after that he is just sitting around burnt. Americans seem to think they can get 40 hours or more out of you, and they may but the quality suffers. But the main thing is that in America we make alot more money, own our own houses, etc. I think this is more to do with the fact that there is a lot more land and cheap land at that. Italy is tiny by comparison, and pretty crowded, so land was at a premium and not everyone could afford a house/flat, etc.

Who knows. I like both places. America is more exciting, energetic, but Italy is more like relaxation, a holiday.

Also, thanks for finding those older pictures of the interior with the anthracite wood trim, I would really like to see some photos of this before ordering my M3. I like the carbon leather that I've seen on ZM coupes, but I think there would have to be more of this trim throughout the M3's interior for it to really work.
