Going to Greece! | Athens - Mykonos - Santorini | How should I split up my days?
Hey guys,
The wife and I are planning to visit Greece for our honeymoon in July and have about 10 days total to use. I was thinking about flying into Athens then take the ferry over to Mykonons then to Santorini where we would catch our flight back to NY. I'm not sure how I should split up my days and I don't want to be at one spot for too long or end up leaving too early without seeing what it has to offer. How many days should I spend in Athens? This seems to be the spot where all the touristy stuff is located. I was thinking splitting it 4 in athens, 2 in Mykonos and 4 in Santorini ? For those who have gone or live there any insight is appreciated! Would like to know what are things we must do there and stuff we can bypass. Thanks! Alan

2-3 in athens, the rest in mykonos! God i love that place. There really isn't much to do in Athens. A day or two is more than enough for sight seeing. As for Mykonos and Santorini, depends on how much you wanna party. Mykonos is more of a party island while Santorini is chill and relaxing.

I love Santorini im there at least every 2 years... So relaxing place an so HOT!! bring some real good Sunburn cream , visit Crete as well I recommend Chania city, old port very nostalgic place and great food at harbour !

well seeing as im from greece and my family is from athens. dont stay in athens for your honey mood 10 days isnt long enough to be in greece so stay in athens 2 days go to mykonos for 3 days and the rest in santorini. Have fun its beautiful there

Athens won't be nice for a honeymoon
great city otherwise.. especially if you know people that can take you places Santorini is probably better for a honeymoon Mykonos is basically a party island.. I think you'd want to be with your wife instead of a bunch of hot drunk girls might I recommend Rhodos and Eos instead of Mykonos?

In town, walkable to the main town sites. Great views, excellent service. Had the best time here.

Check out Mylos. For a honeymoon you can't beat the beaches and the scenery. There are clubs there if you want them. There are also so many beaches there that you can even find a secluded beach all to yourself. Really, my wife and I went in August when the islands are normally packed and on at least three days we had a beach all to ourselves.
Also, Mylos is the island that has some of the most famously photographed beach scenery in Greece.

Being your honeymoon id spend more time in Santorini. Its a beautiful place and there's pretty good nightlife. Athens is sick too, but much crazier. Try going to a bazookia one night.
Wish I was going I go visit family every summer, but this year I cant find plane tickets for less than $1700 and the damn Euro transaction kills

Santorini is absolutely amazing, love that place. I personally would spend most of my time there. If you wanna party it up a lil, I would go to Ios, which is about 1 hour away by ferry from Santorini
Some of the most fun I've ever had in my life was in Ios Like others have said, you dont need more than 2 days in Athens I would do, Anthens - 2 days Mykonos - 1 day (if you really wanna go there) Santorini - 5 days Ios - 2 days |

i would agree that 2 days in athens is plenty- mykonos is a day MAX 2, santorini is an absolute pleasure. 2 years ago I was there for a week and I could have used another few days.

1 day in Athens, 2 max. You just need to see the Acropolis and get out.
Never went to Mykonon, but ive been to Santorini. Lots of nice beaches! Watch the sunset by Oia at night, its awesome! If you have time go to Crete. Lots to see and do in this island. If you do get a chance to go to Crete, the Balos Lagoon is a must, google it. Heres some pics i took: Balos Lagoon  Also on Crete, is Matala Beach... very very nice beach!

However, it is a complete bitch to get there. You drive on a 1.5 lane and 2 cars go up and down. If you make a mistake you fall of the cliff. Theres no rail or anything. Scary as shit. I am lucky i had a fairly big car because some people had tiny cars and looked like they could easily get high centered on a rock in the road. Some pics of the road along the ocean side... Honestly takes 1hr to drive 10km.
