On the previous tracked M3, I tried strategically-applied blue painters tape, even road wrap, etc, but got lazy after a while. By the time I realized how bad the paint and windshield were getting, it was too late.

On the new M3, I have clear bra from front to back (except the roof), and on the windshield.

Clear bra is the only way to go. I used Bain Mendoza...recommended by people here on the forum.

I did a full front wrap plus side skirts.

You can buy clear Plastidip spray its basically a plasti dip clear coat and you spray it on like paint in the areas you want protected. Then when your done you just peel it off like tape. I have seen this used on the track on cars that cost $100k+. I saw it first on a McLaren MP4.

3M also has a new spray on clear bra called 3M Defender and its basically the same thing as a clear bra. Spray it on and its auto leveling so shouldn't have unevenness.

anyone tried paintshield 5720 with results. right now i just use rejex on the paint and seems to protect against hot rubber marks for the most part but wont stop rocks.

I bought some 3M Paint Defender - http://www.amazon.com/3M-90000-Paint...paint+defender, but haven't had a chance to try it out. I've already got a clear bra on, but I plan to use this on my rocker panel, and a few other areas that are prone to rock chips on my car. I don't plan on leaving it on for a year, just do the event, then peel it of as needed.

I don't have another track day till the long weekend, but i'll report back on how effective it is.

I've posted this before, and don't know why people don't use it.
This is by far the most cost effective and easy way to protect the nose of the car during track events. It's about $170.
Then I add some clear shelving paper for the headlights and maybe side view mirrors.

I don't know if its a legit concern but I would be worried about that old school bra coming loose and causing an issue. Because after all I do drive flat out!

i had clear bra on the front, side skirts, front fenders, side mirrors and a pillar.....getting my hood and bumper redone so its coming off of only those pieces...in the end, i really dont care, i can get it redone again for a few bills. i might try the plasti dip though.

Oh yeah! I rock that Colgan Bra too. Takes 5 minutes to put on or take off.

Was thinking about the plasti-dip or 3M stuff as an alternate though.

That's inexpensive & easily installable enough. But, it does nothing for these areas.

I've tracked 3 years with one and no issues. It stays on at 145mph in a NASCAR Oval.

Some reading I did on it showed common complaints of having problems getting the spray thickness even out of a can. Uneven thickness causes adhesion problems apparently.
