Killed my Car in Flood (Tropical Storm Issaac)

Driving home I made it through one flooded area and when I got to the next section I realized I could not make it through. Tried to go back and car died half way in. Took twenty minutes to get DCT in neutral to roll car onto dry land.

Dealer got car Monday night and after 1.5 hours it is still dead, and they are unsure of the damage. I called Geico and they set up loaner and will send adjuster to see car hopefully today. Dealer wants 4 more hour of diagnose time.

Water did not get into interior at all.

Hoping for the best.

Where I live got twice as much rain as in Hurricane Wilma, nearly 16-18 inches.

Maybe because it is his only vehicle.
Maybe he had no other choice.
Who cares, I hope his car is OK.. Why not just say good luck, and leave it at that!

I'm glad that you are ok. Hope that everything works out for the best. But I hate to say this, your engine is probably hydrolocked. I'm hoping that it is not the case. Good luck with everything and sorry to hear that.

You just hydro locked the engine. You didn't kill the car; but you're going to need a new engine. You better hope Geico doesnt put a reman in there. You sucked way too much water up, I bet your air filter is soaked!

Happens all the time here in South Florida. Your insurance is about to shell out at least 15k I have a F01 750Li right now thats getting a new powerplant, as well as a 535

EDIT: dude I see you're in Florida, have it towed to me lol... BMW in Pompano; I won't charge you all that diagnosis time!

Did the engine stop extremely abruptly/violently? If so, you sucked up some water and hydro-locked it and that motor is done.

Make sure that it ends up at a shop that you trust to do major work right. In the past, I've made sure to get cars I really care about away from the shop the insurance company chooses and to somebody I've read fairly consistently good reviews of.

Hope Geico will pay for this since one can argue that there is no reason to be driving in the middle of a storm/hurricane.

Sorry to hear this man. I know the pain of a blown engine.. 6 weeks in a 328i was the hardest part for me. Hopefully Geico sorts it!
