Talking Anxious to pleased! Thanks EAS for the "Turtle Power!!!"

“Ninja turtle” finally arrived! The anxious waiting made the trip to EAS much more satisfying. I was greeted by Tom as he proudly presented the, “ninja turtle,” Takata Green Volk Racing TE37 Super Laps. The dream of owning a set of Volks can finally be cross off the bucket list. The wheels looked even better in person than pictured. The best part was that EAS gotten the wheels mounted and installed on the same evening, on the spot. It looked even better with tires and on the car!

The finished product looked great! The aggressiveness of the wide wheels and bright colored green with red stickers gave the setup a better mix, like mixing business with pleasure.

Here are some pictures!!

Thanks Tom and Steve!! Your great customer service and quick responds time eased my anxiety much more relaxing. Super satisfied and pleased. Defiantly coming back for some more goodies!

Love TE37s, looks great congrats!

Brave man for going with that colour, don't think I'd be able to rock them personally due to the attention id be getting.

Since it's supposed to be a lightweight track wheel, a center cap is just cosmetic and "adds weight".

Most tracks have rules about removing centercaps so they do not fall off on the track, creating a potential hazard.

It's absolutely nothing to do with "weight".

Pics aren't loading, here's a teaser in the meantime:

If you say so. I've never been to a track where they made you remove your center caps.

In either case, Rays designed these as track wheels thus not needing a center cap.

Are you going to be tracking the car? If not then I don't see the point in the wheels. If you are then I'd definitely get slammed on a sleeve over kit. Like the colour regardless.

TE37 do have center caps available for purchase, TE37SL does not. It's the difference between the wheels that flatten out in the center versus the ones that are a bowl shape all the way through.

On this NASA tech inspection form, last item under wheels and tires. SpeedVentures and Speed District and Extreme Speed also follow a similar format. Many organizers count on you to have read it prior to your signing off on your inspection and depend on you to have dealt with any problems listed for the safety of all on track participants.

Even so, I've never been to any event where a tech or any track official made people take center caps off or even make mention of them.

Right, because you put your signature on that paper and they trust you. I'm not here to debate whether it's a big deal or not since I'm sure everyone has their own opinions regarding that. I just wanted to point out that, as a technicality, people are asked to remove them on the tech inspection that they sign.

OP, any plans for a drop? And are you daily driving on those R-S3's?

This may be true. But if it was an issue, it should be resolved at tech regardless of anything you sign when you register for the event. Obviously it's really not an issue.

Well like I said, I'm not arguing how important the center caps are, but I mean, if you think about it, out of the four organizers I mentioned, 3 of them are self-tech based. NASA aside since IIRC they tech cars, that means that if an incident occurs on track, then you would be liable since you acknowledged via signature that the center caps were not an issue.

Stating that the center caps are not an issue because they don't mention it at a self-tech event is similar to saying that all other items on there are not really an issue, like the condition of the tires, the tightness of the lugs, the condition of the wheel bearings, brake pedal pressure, etc., because, really, at most drivers meetings I've been at, other than mentioning lug torque, they don't mention anything else. They assume that people have already checked their brake pads and tire tread and fuel lines prior to attending an event. There's another one that I don't hear anyone mentioning often: fuel lines.

Anyways, clearly, that isn't the case, and it is the responsibility of each and every person on a track to ensure a safe driving environment for all participants by having a proper tech inspection conducted prior to a track day, and comply with all safety requests. Now, whether people don't do this and simply sign away without checking anything is another point entirely, since I have seen item failures that occurred as a clear result of failing to conduct a tech inspection prior to signing off, but that's a whole different basket of apples entirely, but if center caps are separately itemized, at least organizers feel that they pose a significant safety concern, whether or not they are in actuality a hazard.

Anyways, OP, my bad for the threadjack, just wanted to point out a few things. Good talk Tech, if we wanna debate further I'm sure we can pick it up in the track section, and get some good input from other peeps as well.
