I thought that was the way you're supposed to drive these things.

Its simple $25 gets you and your car payed to run, you go they give your car a quick check over, they put a number on your window(that just wipes off) they assign our street cars a staging lane(theres 5) and 2 are for our type of cars so your not practicing against race cars.

You would LOVE it, its Tons of fun, no pressure but plenty of adrenaline, theres people out there haven fun in 4 cylinder cars, and you get to see some real fast cars, its just alot of fun, and its going to be GREAT conditions for fast times today.
It EZ to get to, too US-23 to Plake road then probably 3 or 4 miles of the exit.

If you bring someone its $15 for them, Ezio you should go to!

You guys track your cars for $25? dang. My fees usually run 350-400 / day.

I track my corvette, not the M3 so I'm not familiar with it. Do you guys change your brake fluid to DOT4 before you go? Motul 600? Maybe upgrade your brake pads?

I have no track experience nor stepped foot on one yet. I wanna ask you are you on a "pro" track or what all is included for the 400 A DAY. DAAMMNN thats alot plus I'm assuming tire and brake prep is separate.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Even though my daily driver (2004 Silverado 2500HD 6.0L V8) is no speed demon, I will admit I drive it hard. I have owned it for 8 years and for it's age it only has 89,000 miles. I recently had to change the knock sensors on it and was amazed how clean the intake valves were. My truck doesn't burn a tick of oil. Good oil, good filter, good gas and regular maintenance will make things last a long time.

With that said, I usually push the M button at least once daily after she's nice and hot and give it a go.

Intake valve at 88,000 miles Chevy LQ4.

I do road courses, depending on your run group & the track it includes about 2 hours of track time and all the BS you can spout :-)

Gotta pay to play. Track hobby with M3 is big boy pants time. I waited to buy an M3 until I could afford everything that goes with it, including burning through tires, gas, track time and costs in general. I get insurance for each track day which is 200 per event.15-200 event fee, all cost of burning tires and pads. Prob more like 700 a day if you factor gas, oil, tires, pad wear

Not a casual hobby by any means. Then you have upgraded seats, harnesses, extra set of rims and tires/TPMS, bigger brakes and a couple of electronic goodies - $5k or so.

But I think I still spend less than my buddies that have boats.

Some oil consumption is normal / desired for a performance car like the M3. Getting no oil consumption is nothing to brag about and does not mean your car's engine will outlast one that does consume some oil. In fact there is a technical conflict of interest between friction reduction and oil consumption. Friction speeds up engine wear, increases fuel consumption and reduces power output. With every stroke of the piston it is indispensable that some minimum quantity of oil remains on the cylinder walls for lubricating the piston rings. Some of that oil will have to burn and be expelled with combustion gases.
Perfect sealing of the cylinder lining and piston ring (no oil consumption) is not desirable for optimal operation and long term reliability of a performance engine. The higher the engine speed the greater that effect. This is healthy operation of a performance engine.
Some evaporated oil will also be expelled out with blow off gases through the crankcase PCV valve.
Also the over-publicized rod bearing failure has no correlation with oil consumption. A healthy engine consumes some oil. Contaminated oil and increased fuel consumption are the tell tale signs of engine wear.

How do you not itch to drive it hard every single time you're behind the wheel? People don't buy these cars to drive them like toyota camry's. I can't wait to get behind the wheel of my beast, let it warm up, and hit the M button, whether it be to the grocery store or to work, makes my commute aMazing,

From what I'm reading its apparent that I'm the only one who leaves my car in M mode.. once the temp is around 200 I press it and just keep it on.

I mostly use the car for long country drives on twisting secluded roads so I push it whenever I drive even while going to the grocery but I only drive it once or twice a week.

As the most interesting man in the world might say, "I don't drive hard often, but when I do, I drive an M."

I don't think 4k rpm on a 8k redline is hard at all. It's like using up 6 cylinders on a V 12.

I do crank it to 7-8k at least 1 time per week. I do agree I feel like I'm cleaning her out. The sound and feedback isn't bad either.
