I haven't gone to them but you should relax and give 'em a shot first.

One thing to remember about reviews; most people write them when they have a crappy experience as opposed to every time they have a pleasant one.

Yes, they change the diff oil on M-DCT, just not the tranny oil. Above Poster Fail.

I've had decent luck with BMW of Mountain View. Stevens Creek was the one that put the 4' long scratch in the hood of my 2005 M3 at it's 1200 mile service.

Meh, it's hit and miss. Steven's Creek totally screwed up my 335i sedan. They did warranty work on a leaky sunroof that ended up frying my iDrive system. The car was only 2 months old. It has more rattles than a 10 year old civic. I brought it back to get the rattles fixed about 5 times now and there are still a few that won't go away. No issues with them servicing my 1 series though. They also put a scratch on the rear bumper, but fixed it without giving me any trouble.

I don't go to Mountain View for service because it's always overcrowded. I do buy my cars at Mountain View because of a really awesome sales rep.

He's another armchair mechanic who gave bad advice.

Sadly, as much as there's good information out on the forums, there's probably an equal amount of bad.

True, but if you take it on a thread by thread basis the good I'd estimated that it comes in at 80-90 percent good. (Just like in this thread where folks jumped in to correct the misinformation.) I totally agree on the single post level though--some really crazy and downright harmful information gets tossed around.

The best bet seems to be to do a bit of searching rather than accept the first "fact" thrown out there.

Hey, thanks for the misinformation! The service manual CLEARLY states that the 1200 mile service is engine oil and differential oil. My 1200 mile invoice indeed included both. Clearly *you* haven't read the manual, because as shown in the attachment, the engine oil AND the differential oil are changed. The M-DCT fluid is not, unlike the manual transmission.

I went through the effort of taking this picture not to prove you wrong, but to make sure that there wasn't misinformation being spread.

Well - just got my 1200 mile service done. Not sure I will go back there. They managed to scratch the leather on my steering wheel - not a huge deal cause you cant see it although you CAN feel it and the way the guy drove my car up to where I was waiting for it was not appreciated! I expect them to at least PRETEND that they dont drive like idiots with our cars!!
