Shift knob

Looking for some direction gents.

Love my M3, hate the shifter! Don't get me wrong, I am guy, I love stick shifts "I like to play with my stick shift and ball bearings". I just hate the shifter BMW installs on the M3. I traded up to my M3 from a 370z Nismo. I loved the Nismo's pistol grip shifter.

I have seen a similar shifter on BMW's website. However it does not show as being compatible with the M3 only the 1 series. It is called the 'BMW performance shift knob'. Does anyone know if this shifter will work, or have any recommendations for other shifters?

1. BMW Performance knob will work but you'll need to cut your current boot (OEM knob and boot are in one piece).

2. many people who have issue with it's lightweight and long goose neck shifter, replace their oem goose neck to weighted ZHP knob. It's most popular option. And it matches nicely with rest of interior. But again, you'll need to cut your boot to re-use.

Yep. Since this car's knob is integrated with the boot there aren't too many options out there. The most popular option is the ZHP knob used with your stock boot. Just do a search and you will find the DIY on it.

That's retarded!!!
Isn't some of the purpose of a SSK to reduce the length of the shift knob. This thing is from Wizard of oz...
