Buying used warranty fear and commitment issues.

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I've been lurking for a weeks now while considering purchasing a 08+ M3.

I have found a AW/FR M3 being sold at an independent dealership and looking for some advice on how to proceed.

I am enthusiastic about cars but my knowledge of them in general is slightly more than nonexistent.

The car spec:

2009 AW/FR M3 49k miles
cold, tech, premium package.

Price ~44k asking

I am concerned about the BMW warranty being expired. The dealership has its own warranty (separate purchase) from a third party insurer but I am positive it is not as comprehensive as the BMW 4yr/50k one.

I plan on keeping this car for at least 6-7+ years. Most of my previous cars have 100k on them. I may even keep this M3 "forever" to make up for the old E36.

I'm worried about the bushings and rsms, rtabs basically a lot of the wear parts.

Is this a good deal? I was thinking about sub 40k, but might just get laughed off the phone lol.

Well first off, is this an e90, e92, or e93 M3?

Honestly the peace of mind is worth more than the $ savings, get a CPO'd car.

Dealing with SOME third party companies can be hell especially if the dealership/company you are working through is lazy or doesn't feel like going through the hassle of filing a claim.

If I were you I would be worried about things like transmission/engine/clutch

50k miles on an 09, I would walk away quick. Either get a low mileage one or CPO or both.

I've been researching used M3's for a likely purchase next spring. I wouldn't buy that car if it was me. There are numerous low mileage 2008 M3's available for around that price and low mileage 2009's can be had for around 50K. It sounds like you plan to keep the car for years and put 100K+ miles on it. Why start out with a car that is already half way to 100K? It only takes one engine problem on that high mileage car to eat up all potential savings.

This is an E92.

Looks like there is a pretty strong consensus to keep looking. I'm going to do that. Thank you everyone for the perspective, I couldn't see past the car itself for awhile.
