Preventing iPhone from starting to play when choosing USB option in non-NAV car
I have 2013 M3 without Navigation/iDrive. I like to listen to iPhone apps when I drive and after some experimenting I have settled on using USB cable from armrest storage compartment (as opposed to AUX or Bluetooth to AUX). It works pretty well - charges my phone, etc. The only annoying quirk is that when I select "USB" (or actually "iPod" - since car detects that iDevice is plugged in) option from my stereo - it actually starts iTunes automatically so I always end up listening to first seconds of "History of Rome" podcast series I've finished some time ago. Once I choose actual application I like (e.g. YouTube/Pandora/etc) it takes over and works correctly.
Is there any way of setting up my stereo in a way that when I select USB/iPod input - it does not automatically start playing whatever last was played in iTunes on iPhone? I just want it to sit there - and wait for me to start whatever application I want. Appreciate any advice Aleks |

Have you tried selecting the app you want first before plugging it in?
